I usually take the geek sites with an even larger grain of salt. Fans of whatever property is being are so unforgiving, there are certain things you can't represent in a movie because things that work on a glossy page often will not work on the screen.

I always go in hoping for a good, or at least fun, movie that was inspired by stories I love. Critics like Roger Ebert are going to approach a superhero film in a way more similar (not the same way, mind you) to how I do. I try to be as objective as possible

Thanks for the review. It confirms a lot of what I suspected.

T-Minus 3 hours and I'll be at the theater:). Then I can give my own review.

T-Minus 2 hours before Kard Krazy's childhood hopes and dreams are crushed by a movie. [laugh]

News flash, Kard Krazy will not be around for a couple of days. I received word he was crying in pain inside the theater and had to be hauled out by security. [yikes] [laugh]

Just got home from the theatre. I give it a B-

This is a much higher grade than I anticipated giving it.

Pros:

The use of constructs was often clever, fast-paced, and a visual treat. In fact most of the movie was a visual treat.

The romance was believable enough as it fed off that all too familiar once-were-lovers-angst.

Also, the humor was more subtle than the first trailer made it seem - which is a good thing. It was pretty well-spersed throughout, and never too over-the-top.

My cons are spoilers, so read at your own risk...

Sadly my review is far less entertaining. My little one had been having a little stomach bug and well a little stomach bug turned into diarrhea and a diaper rash which of course made her not the most pleasant baby to be around. haha. So instead of leaving the mother to fend for herself (and me possibly sleeping on the couch a few nights) I passed on the movie and stayed home. I'll be going to see a matinee showing of it tomorrow.

Just came back from seeing it. I'm not really sure what all the hate is about. For my money, I got exactly what I expected to get. It dragged in the middle but overall I thought it was good. I'd probably give it a C+ or a B-, somewhere in that range. Definitely wasn't the best superhero movie ever but I'd hardly call it the worst.

This is how you know you're a good dad! (Remind me to tell you my "Clash of the Titans" story some day. Too graphic for the non-parents here - I don't want to scare anyone away from becoming parents.)

Agreed.

My guess is, it was so hyped, people were expecting the next Dark Knight.

It wasnt bad.

It wasnt good.

It was meh.

They should have used constructs to fill in the plot holes.

Kids will eat it up though.

Its on par with X3, Spidey3, etc.

I'd put it on par with X3 and Wolverine; but Spidey 3? I personally think GL ran circles around Spidey 3.

I squirmed uncomfortably in my seat the whole way through Spidey 3!

Spider-Man 3 is the second worst comic book movie in the last 15 years. Hands down. Superman Returns only tops it. So with that knowledge of my taste if GL comes anywhere close to Spider-Man 3 I will leave an hour into it.
Man I can't wait to see this tomorrow,

Just going with the Comic Book movies I can remember off the top of my head...

Great
Batman Begins
The Dark Knight
Spidey 1
Spidey 2
Sin City
Iron Man 1
Scott Pilgrim
V for Vendetta
x1
x2
Hellboy II

Good
Watchmen (Director's Cut)
Daredevil (Director's Cut)
X-Men First Class
Hulk 2
Green Lantern <-------------------
Thor
Kick-Ass
Constantine
Superman 1
Superman 2 (Donner Cut)
Batman
Batman Returns
Hellboy
Iron Man 2
x3
Wolverine
300

Bad
Hulk 1
Elektra
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Superman Returns
Blade 1
Blade 2
Blade 3
Fantastic Four
F4: Rise of the Silver Surfer
Losers
Punisher

Ugly:
Batman Forever
Batman and Robin
Jonah Hex
Howard the Duck
Spidey 3
Punisher: War Zone
Ghost Rider
Superman 3
Superman 4
Catwoman

Obviously this is my personal taste. Notice that my "Good" net is wide. It includes movies that almost were great and movies that were one scene away from bad [grin2]

For those who have seen Green Lantern; copy and past this list and move the movies to the categories that fit your tastes. I'm interested to see which movies other people would stack Green Lantern up against!
