I think I must be terrible at judging comic book movies too, because I liked Daredevil and Ghost Rider and X3. I agree that Spidey 3 was too busy but it still had some good parts. In fact, other than the Joel Schumacher catastrophes, I can't really think of one that I've seen and didn't like.

I'm with you, but I also have a nasty habit of buying the movies for the sake of collecting them, I have every Comicbooky movie produced on dvd, vhs, and/or burned VCD. Even the Corman F4, the old Captain America one, and a few episode from the live action Spidey tv show.

There are a lot of movies here getting so much hate, it's shocking.

1.) Daredevil - I enjoyed it, and I personally think Ben Affleck did a pretty good job. I mean, you have to take into consideration, Daredevil, who is a sweet comic book character in my book, is not necessarily an A-Lister when it comes to FILMS. The X-Men, Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, etc. So for a movie to probably have only one film in its series, I thought it was good.

2.) Ghost Rider - Same as above. Only difference, Nick Cage? Eh...not really a fan of that. Thought they should've gotten a much younger actor. Eve Mendes is a plus though! And Peter Fonda as Mephisto is such a stroke of genius, even I wouldn't have thought of that. Easy Rider FTW.

3.) And this one really irks me....Batman Forever. I LOVE that movie. Tommy Lee Jones is a gangstah, and he deserves to be Two-Face. The crowning achievement? Jim Carrey as the Riddler. I don't care what anyone says, if they do have the Riddler in the upcoming Batman film(s), no one will take the place of Jim. He's so crazy it fit perfectly. And I didn't mind Val Kilmer playing Batman.

4.) Spidey 3 - I liked it. I agree, a bit much going on for one movie. Eddie Brock gets introduced AND turned into Venom, sub-plot on Sandman being someone involved in Uncle Ben's death, Harry finding out his dad was the Green Goblin...Lord. But, I still enjoyed it.

Catwoman....ugh. Hideous. The Fantastic Four movies were good, especially the first. The second, I dunno. Alba looked fake, and I wish they had made it into GALACTUS, not a giant cloud. Still good though. Blade, I lost interest after the second movie. Elektra? Eh... Batman and Robin? George, you kill me with your nips...Wolverine Origins? I liked. Just don't understand the Emma Frost bit at the end (if you guys know what I'm talking about with First Class). The original Hulk? I was so lost in that movie, I can't even remember it. I got thrown off by the comic book panel stuff and the biological whatever at the beginning. Just a mess.

Other than that, everything else has been solid. Thor, First Class, Green Lantern, the Iron Man movies, the X-Men movies (yes, X3) even the Incredible Hulk (I just hope they bring him some justice in the Avengers movie). Looking forward to Cap as well.

/rant.

Now on GL. I liked it. Mark Strong as Sinestro IS PURE CINEMATIC GENIUS. He is absolutely perfect as Sinestro. Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan? I'm 50 / 50 on that. Yes, because in my opinion, he LOOKS like Hal Jordan from the comics. No, because the Hal Jordan in the comics, I always thought, is serious. Reynolds is too goofy for Hal.

And I have no idea how they can implement Guy Gardner, John Stewart, or Kyle Rayner into the film(s). As fanboys, anything could work. As people who just want to see the film, they get the idea that when a GL dies, there's a replacement. You want to keep Hal, but bring in other Earth GLs? We know how Kyle took over in the COMICS, but how do you implement that into a film? Sinestro is now evil and resurrects Parallax? So much to think about..and besides, would DC want multiple GLs on Earth, or just focus on Hal to set up a JLA movie for the future?

/racking of the brain

Went and saw it Saturday morning. Was cool seeing alot of characters from VS cards on the big screen.

My daughter almost jumped out of her seat when Bzzt (her current favorite Green Lantern) appeared [grin2]

We all enjoyed it as a fun superhero Saturday morning matinee.

My wife felt cheated on the final battle and wanted more of Parallax.

I thought the romance aspect was spent too much time on (the dance scene in the bar for example), and used up screen time that other Lanterns could have used [grin]

I agree. Especially because the romance part and the character development for Hal were SO HORRIBLY WRITTEN. Seriously, that dialog was painful - it brought the movie down at least a full letter grade for me. I don't blame the actors, I blame the writers.

It's the inconsistency that kills me. You wanna make a fluff movie about Lanters? Fine, I'm in. But don't get my hopes up that it's going to be "Dark Knight level stuff" by throwing in those awesome Sinestro scenes. Because when you edit it back-to-back with the "Days of Our Lives" crap that Ryan and Blake were forced to spew...it sends a real mixed message that leaves me longing for what could have been.

Here's something that will really shock you then lastchance. I actually like and not only that but actually enjoyed the following movies -

Fantastic Four
Fantastic Four 2
Daredevil

and drum roll for the last one because I actually LOVE the following movie -

Punisher (Tom Jane)

[grin] ,
Kj
P.S: Catwoman was so horrible I don't even rate it. If I had to it would obviously be worst than Superman and S3. But without including that I'll put Superman Returns and S3 at the top of my list. Those movies actually tried to be good and failed miserably. Catwoman didn't even try.
Thomas Jane was a fantastic punisher. The movie could of been a little better (The Russian scene was pretty retarded) but he was great. Great villian and plot.

I wish they woulda kept rolling with that.

Yeah, I thought Tom Jane did really well as Punisher. A little too thin maybe but good, I was actually more impressed with him than John Travolta. Ray Stevenson may have looked more like the Ennis Punisher but they dressed him up in that Hurt Locker outfit that looked ridiculous.

As to GL, based on mixed reviews, I'll probably wait for DVD, since I too obsessively collect these things.

At KJ
Plz tell me u recited the oath after putting on that suit.

at every1else
tom jane as Frank was fun to watch. i like how he toyed with ppls minds in the 1st Pun movies. he turned Saint against the wife and the best freind beautifully. and he still kicked butt the way we know punisher can. sure he wasnt as cold blooded as must of us remember him to be in comics but he still handled his business. i also liked how he put all those charges on those cars and when he blew em up and kills saint. they are in the shape of that skull. frank was like: hey daredevil, i bet u thought those flaming d's looked cool. well my friend get a load of this * straps Howard Saint to car* *Sends car into parking lot* *Detonates explosives strapped to cars* *resulting explosion makes Punsisher symbol* Daredevil: F#$k you, Castle *Daredevil walks away in shame*

Just a thought, but the 3-D was seriously sweet in Green Lantern. It's one reason to catch it before it gets to DVD.

Normally I regret paying the extra for 3-D; but I couldn't say that about Avatar or Green Lantern.

I'm shocked, SHOCKED at how high people here rate Daredevil even IF it is the director's cut! That movie was SOOOO bad I don't really remember ANYTHING good about it! Can the director's cut be THAT much better?
The Director's Cut (which was supposed to be the theatrical release until they cut it for PG-13 rating) finished the whole lawyer sub-plot that they cut snippits out of in the theatrical version. This actually made the movie make way more sense and develops the relationship between the two lawyers a bit more (and Urich). They also added quite a bit more about Murdock's mental state. They show his addiction to pain-killers, and show that he can hear murders and crimes in the city that he knows he can't get to in time. This in turn makes his sleeping chamber make a lot more sense.

Finally, Benifer (I went there) get more scenes together; and Bullseye and Kingpin get more development as well.

I'm sure I'm forgetting additions. There was a whole half hour added.

I love Daredevil. My only regret is the quality of the Digital effects in the church organ fight. Otherwise I loved the plot and casting (though I'm not sure why they made Kingpin black; maybe Michael Clark Dunkin was the only one they could find with that distinct build).

I guess I don't get the hate; but to each their own. There are probably some people who love Jonah Hex or Catwoman (which I don't!).

Um, prolly no. I would hate to the The Flash find out that he wasn't really the fastest man alive but he had the ability to make everything else slow in comparison, just to find out in the end that he was dead and a hallucination of a mentally challenged dude hyped up on plant dust.

.........What a Twist!

I'm not up on the GL comics but how was Parallax defeated previously?

Spoiler: click to toggle

I do agree the whole romance thing skewed the storytelling pace. Maybe that's why I liked Iron Man 1 because they mostly avoided that. And then that's why I didn't like parts of The Dark Knight because I found it out of character for Wayne to get so attached to Rachel/Maggie (maybe to Rachel/Katie).

One thing I was hoping they would do is cameo in Barry Allen to pay homage to the GL/Flash friendships.

During the bar scene, there are a couple of arcade machines in the background. I see one is labeled as Blitz, a football game. I was unable to make out the name of the machine to the left. It had pictures resembling characters similar to those in Super Puzzle Fighter 2, most noticeably I saw what I believe to be Ryu. Does anyone else remember this part or could identify the machine?
