Ideas for fun decks to build?; Just looking for some input

So my bunch of friends and I have broken out the VS decks and started playing semi-regularly, discontinuation or no. I sold a lot of my collection, but luckily I have enough lying around and since we don't mind using proxies, there's a lot of variance in the deck types to keep things interesting.

Thing is, since most of my decks are in various stages of disrepair, I figured that it would be more interesting to build a new deck rather than go back and fill in the blanks for decks that I've already played many times. My friends and I play a modified Silver Age kind of environment in which stuff like DGL and MAV are allowed in moderation, but definitely no Overload, Dr Light or Origins stuff.

I used to play pretty competitively, but as we're just playing for fun, I wanted to see if I could come up with a unique and funky deck that was still pretty powerful. I'm trying to avoid straightforwards "recruit, form up, attack, play pumps" kinds of decks, as I've played lots of them in the past.

I tried making a Magneto deck, but Magneto doesn't really have good legend support. :( Right now I'm deciding between Sniper Shot Abuse (the power level of the deck is high, but I just like it ever since I saw it) and a Deadpool deck that tries to kill on 5 with Trouble With Clones.

Any other ideas? I'm open to anything that seems interesting. My playgroup plays everything from F4 to Galactus Stall to old-school Hellfire Club and Avengers Reservist, so it's a pretty wide-open field.

A Fearsome Five would be fun to build.

I ran an FF life gain deck, it's nice because it lets your opponent play out their "game" whether they win on not w/e but they do get to play out their strategy which is nice.

American Maid has a fun Survival of the Fitest deck with all characters that auto recover.

I was just fixing Survival of the Fittest as a card to build around. It is one of the few decks I always have built, period.

If the "modified" bit will let you use some Marvel Origins you could always advance your Deadpool by a turn and make him go off on 4 with the help of Beast.

For fun I have been wanting to build a plague counter deck

And if u run dead pool might I suggest runaways secret society

The dcl fatality on four with the runnaways is stupid funny, my four drop attacks for like 25

Warbound/flash amoment in crisis on hulk with terminal velocity

Shield/villians united with zazzala is fun I call it hotsause since it burns going in and coming out

Mystique + Purifiers.

Nothing more fun than steal you opponents drops.

Oh that is so sweet ...consider this stolen, like my opponents characters will be.

I haven't done anything with the idea yet, but I had a brainstorm for a Heroes of the City MK/F4 deck, but instead of being equip-centric, leading to a finale of Sentry+Surfer: Sentry can't be stunned while you have the init, and Surfer steals the init for you.

Here's the list I stole from Trooper and then slightly modified:

11x Purifiers
4x Mystique, Raven
4x William Stryker
2x Lady Deathstrike, Lady for Hire
4x Nimrod
3x Bastion
2x Sentinel Squad O*N*E8, Army

Plot Twists: 27

4x Invasion Plans
4x Identity Theft
4x Finishing Move
4x Straight to the Grave
3x Skreeeee
3x Omnipotence
3x Purified
2x Call in a Favor

Locations: 3

3x Birthing Chamber

It plays like standard curve, but SttG gets Mystique into the KO'd pile for Stryker to bring back in for free. The Purifiers are your constant stream of pump or buff (sometimes both) and Finishing Move/Identity Theft is your control.

Sentinel Squad O.N.E is your turn 6...netting you 4 Purifiers in hand with his Boost.

It's become one of my favorite decks.

I'm probably going to try to shoehorn it into my Purifiers/Punisher/Kimon build and see what happens.

Thanks for the replies all! There are some good ideas here, I'll try to respond to them as best as I can :

Fearsome Five - No Origins in my group I'm afraid...one guy played Cover Fire and got booed.

Survival of the Fittest doesn't really appeal to me, but Washout does! I have an idea in which I suit up Washout with the Fate Artifacts and just let him brickwall everything. Heroic Effort/Survival/Forge/Green Goblin add more counters. I just can't decide whether to make it a stall deck or one that wins via attacks from the hidden area (since Washout covers the visible area well enough)

Not sure how Runaways and Secret Society interact with Deadpool...maybe I am missing something here?

Warbound and Flash is an interesting idea, but I don't like the idea of having to use 3 cards to combo (Hulk, Crisis, Velocity) that don't really help outside of the combo. Though, using it on Savage Hulk is a beating!

Shield/VU is something to explore, thanks!

Thor and Attilan/Nega-Bomb/Reckoning is a pretty interesting deck, but I used to play Inhumans heavily so I am looking for something different at the moment. But I might go back to it one day. (Though you could use Losing the Argument instead...that's an idea! You'd have to draw Nega-Bomb manually though.)

I'm also not really seeing how Mystique and Purifiers work together...

I don't have a lot of F4 and MK cards, so the last one is probably out. Cool idea though!

The Deadpool and Runaways/SS were separate ideas. I'm assuming he was thinking that if you are running MEV you might be open to Runaways.

On the Purifiers deck, Mystique, Raven has all names while in your deck, hand, or KO'd pile. Thus, she can be returned to hand via William Stryker's effect. Use her to play identity theft and then steal your opponents characters. Fun stuff.

Yeah if u are willing to play deadpool I assume u would play runaways

And while it is a three card combo the look on your opponents face when u hit then direct is awsome

For the Thor/Nega Bomb deck, you can try running Doom instead of Inhumans. Doom 3 can search our Nega Bomb and stack the deck if needed, but otherwise you use Losing the Argument to stack the deck. Doom 3 also lets you search out the Reckoning or any of the other Twists you need to find.
