Sometimes the ally power you want to use is on another character, though.

I'd probably try to fit this in somewhere.

cards like that make hal jordan's legend card look completely and utterly unplayable and crappy (-er than it already is)

i personally would use this in a brotherhood deck along with Lost City... could be fun
Wouldn't work wtih Lost City because its effect replaces the power up. Same as LC and ally effects.
hmmm.... guess i never realized that it actually replaced the powerup effect. maybe i wouldnt use that card after all lol. still not bad but not great either...

As written in the OP, it doesn't replace a power-up, the power-up is just a requirement for it to be useful. So, with Lost City you'd get +5/+5.

Unless you were referring to a different version...

Not so Mestrahd "...would become powered-up, that character gets +3 ATK and +3 DEF for this attack instead." from the card text. Would become and Instead being the key words so the power up is in fact replaced by the +3, +3 bonus and the character does not in fact ever become powered up to meet the requirement of the OP card.

I would only ever play this in limited if I had at least 2 ways to power up someone, preferably more. Or maybe in an unconventional format.

No but Lost City does and the OP post says
Plot Twist 3

Target Character that has been powered-up this attack gets +2/+2 this attack.

Has been powered up this attack which won't happen because the Power up will have been replaced by the Lost City effect.

Edit: and your faster than me.
