That was one of the coolest games I've ever played too Spud.
And because of that, I have the "joy" of hearing how control vs. control is so peaceful and relaxing... [weep]

My Illuminati deck tries to get the full roster on the board by Turn 5 (in part using the Iron Man, Earth 2020, your only visible character, to get free characters). You activate the gauntlet on Turn 5 before he lays a resource to make him discard his hand. Then on Turn 6 you recruit Dr. Strange, Ally of the Four and use the gauntlet twice (once to discard his hand, once to KO his biggest character). If you have Cosmic Radiation, use it again to KO another character, etc. Between that and Clandestine Ops, it should shut them down pretty fast. Then you sit and wait for 8-drop Ghost Rider to hit the board. :-)

So my drops look like this:

1 drop: Black Bolt and Prof. X
2 drop: Mr. F and Dr. S
3-drop: Iron Man, Sub
4-drop: (recruit 3-drop Sub and re-recruit Prof. X, usually)
5-drop: Iron Man, Ultimates (or under-drop for whoever you missed, including Prof. X if you had to pick him up again)
6-drop: Dr. Strange, Ally of the Four
7-drop: Havok
8-drop: Ghost Rider
9-drop: Onslaught

I wouldn't call it consistent, and if you're playing against rush/aggro decks you lose, but when it hits it's pretty fun to pilot.

P.S. My playgroup has a gentlemen's agreement not to run Pathetic Attempt unless it's there to protect your win condition (like Hulk being KO'd). So I usually don't bring out the Illuminati too often, because I'd hate to see PA be a staple in every deck.
