I haven't started a thread in years and if I missed some official thread on GenCon I apologize.

It seems like GenCon turned into Vegas and no one wants to talk about it... where is ScottK with the updates?

And Banstyle mentions that UDE actually had a booth at GenCon... what was at that booth... lawyers? Did anyone ask them about Vs... or did anyone badger Cryptozoic about trying to get Vs (yeah... I'm talking to you Facebook bullies)?

How were the Vs events?

22 Players, BYOS Golden Age. 5 rounds of Swiss and Cut to Top 4. There was a feature match table that had a camcorder recording. Just off the top of my head, here was the metagame:

2 Secret Avengers (MUN)
1 TNB (MOR)
1 Avengers Reservist (MAV)
2 Good Guys (DJL)
1 Checkmate/VU (DCR)
1 Hellfire Club (MXM)
1 Morlocks (MXM)
1 Family of Four (MVL)
1 The Captain Legend.dec (MUN)
1 Hulk/Warbound (MUN)
1 JSA (DCR)
1 Wild Vomit (MOR)
1 X-Statix/MK (MMK)

Man, I wish I actually looked around and saw what people were playing (was going back and forth to the Heroclix area to see when my Grinder pod would start, sorry).

Anyway, Top 4:

Hulk/Warbound vs TNB
Secret Avengers vs Good Guys

Top 2:

Secret Avengers vs Hulk/Warbound

Secret Avengers wins. Scott did a great job of running the tournament. Makes me realize just how awesome the game is and how much I miss it (haven't played in a vs tournament in 2 years, lol). I met some great people and I hope this game makes some kind of return in form or another.

I have to thank Billy Z. for lending me the cards to play (since I gave all my cards away to people who wanted to play), and it was ALL-FOIL, nonetheless! I basically had no choice but to play a MUN deck or a MVL deck since those were the only full playsets he had (all foil, too, lol), so I opted for the "point and shoot" since I haven't played in a while (didn't want to get cross-eyed playing a control deck, being rusty and all), and Secret Avengers it was.

Thanks Scott for still being the passionate leader in this game (I liked your PC Competitor shirt, nice touch there) and to all the players who still keep this game alive. Long live vs!

I was just relaying what was told to me. Like I said, I was so busy I didn't even get a chance to get up and walk around the exhibitor hall. I figured UDE wasn't there, but one of our employees told me that someone dropped off Vs decks to give out and to tell the people we gave them to to tell UDE to bring it back. Didn't say who dropped them off, but I figured it was someone from here. My GenCon experience was from the seat I had in our booth looking at a never ending line of people selling Magic cards to us. No prob Ban... I understand how hectic GenCon is... I couldn't even sit down and talk to you last year like I wanted to.

So no UDE... a decent turnout for BYOS Golden and the return of Majestic... any other Vs old schoolers show up?

Christian here. I played and finished 2nd in the BYoS tournament 5-0 cut to top four 1-1. I could not defend my title this year as I won the BYoT last year. Is that Majestic whom beat me? He played superb (not to mention that was my worst draw all day, happens). Nice game my friend!! And thanks to all the players that showed up and played. All the games were really fun and entertaining, except that pump deck where Joe and I had to keep track of all the pumps. OMG!?

My friend, Nick, played in the Sealed tournament and went 3-2 I believe. He said it was a blast and I think there were somewhere around 18 in it...many of which were NOT in the BYOS tournament. I had a LARP going on with a friend and couldn't make the event.

Great to see and meet everyone again this year. Shoot me a line anytime and see you guys on the boards.

BTW: How did you do in your HeroClix tourneys (I assume that was the main reason you were at GenCon).

And had you told me you were going... I may have tried to make one last trip out there. Jerkity jerk jerk!

Your avatar is sick.

A guy named Arthur, who has played in a couple PCs back in the day. It was funny telling stories to the other players about the PC days, made me feel old, lol.

OG = Original Gangster and predates the term Old School which has effectively replaced it in the modern vernacular.

It was meant to indicate those who were of the first generation of Crip and Bloods, and was later expanded to include those who had earned their stripes.

We had 3 OGs then counting myself. I wasn't a pro-player I was strictly casual, but i've been playing since marvel origins.
