Sleeves?

I was sleeving a deck, and I realized I was a few short, so I went to Wal-Mart (where I got the original sleeves) and picked up a few of the black Ultra Pro sleeves that I assumed were the same as the ones I got. As I got home I realized that the new sleeves were smaller than the originals, and I noticed that they were 66mm x 91mm.

The cards fit, but they take some effort trying to sleeve. The original sleeves fit like a glove.

Does anyone know the preferred sleeves for a Vs. card?

i had this same issue recently, it seems the new ultra pro sleeves are smaller then the old ones. i guess the economy is hitting ultra pro as well, cutting back as much as possible on size of card sleeves.. smh

You could get a different brand like Dragon Shields but they are a little pricey compared to ultra-pro although they do last longer.

Just be aware of measurements and you can get them online

They do make different sizes for different games. There are three basics that I can remember right now: Standard (MTG and VS), Yu-Gi-Oh size, and Other (Not sure of the name for the size but its basically for games like Munchkin).

We've bought hard to find art sleeves only to find out they were Yu-Gi-Oh sized. So it's important to check size. :P

I believe he is referring to only VS sized sleeves. Ultra-Pro changed its sleeves size for a tighter fit and less extra sleeve on the tops.

They are nice but I had an issue from a dealer online who sent me some of the old and new.

That stinks. Guess I will stick with Dragon Sleeves if they are going that route. Though I have heard good things about Fantasy Flight sleeves.

So both Dragon Shield and Fantasy Flight standard sleeves fit perfectly for Vs. cards?

Yeah. I started using Dragon Sleeves about 6 months ago and they are a dream to use.
The shop here in our town though only sells Fantasy Flight and my friend just bought some and likes them. :D

All brands fit VS pretty nicely. I havent tried fantasy flight sleeves yet but I can say I have majority Ultra pro since I favor the rough texture on the back but I do have some decks in dragon shields and they dont break and last for years.

Ultra-Pro used to make a similar sleeve to what Dragon Sleeves does. (Thicker sleeve with a smooth back that doesn't slip) I have a set from years ago and love them just as much as the Dragons, but I haven't been able to find any since. If anyone knows if they still make these or where to buy them, that would be great. :P

I stick to Dragon Shields. I can't trust my rough shuffling with any other sleeve.

I have a couple sets of legion sleeves that I make a point to shuffle gently (mmm bacon and every day I'm shufflin')

Yea most of the people in my playgroup shuffle very roughly and every once in a while an Ultra-Pro sleeve will bust and I gotta pull out a replacement. Dragon shields are amazing but they represent them in their price.

I can get Ultra-pros in bulk online for like 2-3 dollars a pack. I can't even find dragon shields cheaper than $8 per 100. Kinda sucks since they are the better sleeve for long term.

UltraPro made super thin "normal' size sleeves that allowed you to double sleeve cards. You may have gotten this type of sleeve.

My problem with Dragon Shields is that they seem to always be miscut
