Can Punisher - Captain America activate his effect on himself? For some reason my playgroup got it inside their heads that his effect would not go off if used on himself. Is this true? Punisher- Captain America Activate -> whenever target character you control becomes stunned while in combat this turn, stun all opposing characters that were in combat with it this turn. My other question has to do with team attacking and stunning attackers before the attack resolves. If a card like Insignificant Threat stuns a team attacker before the attack resolves, does the attack reset? Insignificant Threat To play, exhaust a [brotherhood icon] defender you control. Stun target attacker if its cost is less than that defender's cost. If a card like The Infinity Gauntlet stuns a character when a team attack is declared (but has not been made legal yet), does the attack reset? If it does not reset, is it still technically a team attack even though only one character may be attacking (due to the other being stunned)? The Infinity Gauntlet - Equipment Exhaust equipped character >>> stun target character. Use this power only once per turn. Thanks for your help! |

1) From the wording on the card Punisher- Captain America can definatly target himself. Else it would have read something in the lines of "target other character than punisher" (ish) 2) You asked 2 different things, there's a difference between "before the attack resolves" and "when a team attack is declared". -When a team attack is legal and in progress and you stun 1 of the team attackers, the attack will still go on, because there are still legal attackers in the attack (just one less), the attack is still called a team attack even with only one attacker (on a sidenote). -When a team attack is proposed/declared and you stun one of the characters, you make the proposed attack illegal. So wait with your stun effect till the attack is legal and the characters are underway. One of the reasons X-statix' Zeitgeist is such a powerhouse. Give me a slapping if I'm wrong, or feel free to elaborate further :) Greetings Edited by Drstrange, Aug 10 2012, 03:40 PM.

No real slapping to be done, just a couple of additions: What this means is that even if there's only one character left in the attack, it still won't cause breakthrough to a character, because it's still considered a team attack. Just to reiterate here, the attack doesn't "reset" because it hasn't started yet. At this point, none of the proposed attackers have exhausted before the attack was made illegal. The attack just doesn't begin and you're free to propose other attacks. |
