Each of you was abducted separately a few years ago. You all met as prisoners in the slaver's camp. The leader of the slavers is named Margon, and his second in command is named Marrick. Margon is a human bandit that doesn't care one wit about the suffering of other people and is driven only by gold. His cruelty is limited to what is necessary to accomplish his goals only because it is the most efficient method. Marrick on the other hand takes pleasure in inflicting pain and suffering on anyone he can. Margon's men consisted of approximately 20 cutthroats and bandits of various races and ages. For the first month you were there, you were the only captives. Then an Elf named Jathan Link was brought into camp in shackles and added to your group. Three days passed as you got to know Jathan and he got to know you. As the only adult prisoner, he felt it was his responsibility to help you all escape. The opportunity came at the beginning of the fourth day, when Malgon sent Marrick and four guards to take the lot of you by wagon to a nearby town to be sold to a pre-arranged buyer. A few hours into the trip, Jathan told you all that he was a novice wizard and could cause a distraction long enough for you to escape. He escaped his bonds and disabled the wagon with a burst of fire. All of you fled as Jathan engaged the slavers in wizardly combat. The last you saw of him was Marrick and three guards tackling him as he tried to overpower the fourth guard. You made it to the nearest town and convinced the authorities to investigate the matter, but by the time they arrived at Margon's camp, it was gone. After a brief search, the authorities gave up and came home. Each of you returned to your families and applied yourself to your studies (fighter, wizard, sorcerer, rogue, and ranger), hoping that one day you would be able to track down Margon and rid the world of him and his evil band of slavers. Your studies are coming along nicely, when you receive a letter in the mail: Dear <Your Name>, I have at long last escaped Margon and his band of vile slavers. I don't have much time, so I'll keep this short. I bashed Margon's head in with a rock and made a run for it. Marrick, Margon's second in command, has lost his mind and is applying every resource at his disposal to my capture. He knows about my involvement in your escape and in the death of Margon, and has sworn vengeance at any cost. I wish there was some way I could avoid bringing up these memories for each of you, but I desperately need your help. I want to rid the world of Marrick and his men once and for all. Meet me at the Outten Inn at The Crossroads on the first day of summer, and I'll explain my plan. I know you want to rid the world of this blight as much as I, and now we have the chance! Truly Yours, Jathan Link All of you arrive at The Crossroads, a very small outpost at the intersection of two major roads, on the designated day. You greet each other at the stables as each of you arrives, and as a group, you enter the Hammer Inn. You immediately notice... And we'll pick up here when we all get together.
