So, there I was... at the inn at Crossroads where the letter said to meet up. I grabbed a pint and noticed a couple of familiar faces across the room; the fierce half-orc, the hyperactive gnome, the mystical human, the skillful elf, and the enchanting half-elf. But our reunion was cut short for finding Jathan, the spell-casting elf that long ago freed us from slavery. At the inn was a buff looking dwarf that ran the bar that said that he hadn't seen Jathan since the prior evening. Fearing the worst for our friend the gnome and I decided to investigate our lost companion's room. Inside we found a box containing a map with a M marked in the mountains past Ekron. I can only assume he's located that filthy bandit, Marrick's camp...

The rest of that night was a blur to me (cause I attempted to drink ale as the half-orc did) and a skull splitting hangover I came to halfway to Ekron which took the rest of the day on horseback to get to. I can't remember all of the details of the night before but I believe that we decided to gain information from the adventures guild that's up that way and to do some recon at the local hangouts. Our party decided to split into three pairs: the gnome and the half-orc, the half-elf and the human, and the elf and me.

The ranger and I were chosen to scout out the Come On Inn, which was the most populated spot in the city. There were definitely some untrustworthy guys in that place. While the elf used her lady charms to distract a bunch of low-lifes
i tumbled under the table and searched for leads. I found that one of them had a booklet of past bets -one of which was a bet made by Margon! After the elf and I regrouped we decided we had to question this dirtbag. We figured since his group had had quite a bit of rum that it wouldn't be long until he needed to relive himself, so I waited patiently in the jon while the elf took her post outside the door... Just like clockwork, in the bookie came with the elf sealing the door shut behind him and then... Wham! I pounced on him!! He tried in vain to toss me off, but I overpowered him and pushed my knife to his throat. The poor bastard about peed himself when the ranger pointed her longsword at his gut and demanded what he knew of Margon. He squealed like a piggy saying that he had heard Margon was dead and that Ken collected his winnings about 6 months ago.

After that encounter we regrouped at the stables to hear that the wand waivers found out that Joe of the adventures guild was the best in the business and Jason was the best guide. Also the tinker and the brute got info about a job in the slums. We all decided to split up and stake out the Gin Inn while the gnome and half-orc talked business with a shadowy man in the corner booth. He told them about a job that pays 400 gold to find out what's in a puzzle box that's being shipped to Hammerfall by a band of four hired men. The shady deal maker put 50 gold up front and told the gnome to split it between the six of us -he knew we we're a group! I dunno how trustworthy this creep is, but I've been in plenty dirty business in the past... still I have to wonder why the contents of this box is only important to know and not to steal. Smells fishy to me.

Our group decided to head out the next day (after the half-orc's night of debauchery and the gnome's wish coming true for fixing things) back to the Crossroads to infiltrate the caravan's cargo. Once there we stalked them outside of the Outten Inn and came up with a plan. Two of the guards and the drivers of the carriages went into the inn with some cargo leaving two guards outside on watch. The wizard used some sorta hocus pocus to figure out if anything inside the carriages had anything magical in them. The first carriage did... While the elf and half-orc distracted the one guard the tinkering gnome annoyed the other with tons of questions; I was able to sneak my way into the carriage with the magical auras and managed to open three out of four chests, but I didn't find the puzzle box during my search.

But then it all went south. I heard the guards getting frantic outside, I wasn't sure what to do! As I was about to try to hide in the corner I heard the sounds of a spooked group of horses and the half-elf's voice trying to calm them down. I knew she had to be diverting attention of the guards so I could make my escape, and with some fancy tumbling I was able to flee unnoticed...

With my efforts leaving us empty handed we stand outside the inn, trying to gauge our next move.

Dēore Diurnālis,

After receiving Jathan's letter, I was stoked... time to get vengeance on my enemies. A couple of days before the first day of summer I set out for Outen Inn in the center of crossroads. I haven't seen my friends in quite awhile so I was looking forward to catching up with whoever decided to embark on this adventure.

When I arrived at the Inn, I saddled up to the bar and waited patiently taking in the scene around me... not very busy that day, 2 regulars at the bar, nothing seemed out of sorts. Shortly after arriving, Arya and Shakacon met up with me. Thrall came in, got a drink, and sat at a table... super friendly half-orc that guy is. I spotted the fiesty gnome, Teeki and the halfling, Garrett. We all were there! Shortly after pleasantries we had a plan of action set in place.

Teeki and Garrett snuck into Jathan's room after we found out he wasn't seen since the night before. Shakacon, Arya, and myself kept the barkeeps attention while they were searching for clues of Jathan's whereabouts. Thrall sat and drank. During the search we scored a map with an M marked in the mountains outside of Ekron. We spoke with the guys in the bar but they were useless. Checked out the stables... just a punk kid getting drunk with his girlfriend, however, Jathan's horse was still stabled. Earlier the barkeep told us to visit a guy named Joe in Ekron. Off we went...

Ekron is kind of a gross, industrial town... I'm sure Thrall felt right at home.

We split up into two's to get as much information in a short period of time as possible. Garrett and I went to the most popular and busiest inn in Ekron, Come On Inn. Once in we split up he got a drink and I hung at the bar for a bit trying to get information. Apparently, an elf should be a little easier to find considering we only make up about 4% of the population in this town but nobody had seen Jathan, at least that's what they say. There in the corner was a group of bandits that looked like they might know something. I distracted them while Garrett hid under the table to get some information. He found one of the guys was a bookie and his book had Margon's name in it. We cornered him in the bathroom and made a deal for information. Margon had a huge payout about 6 months ago and that creepy guy Ken came to collect it. The guy hadn't seen either since then.

Met up with the crew and found out Thrall and Teeki found a possible job that may link us to Marrick... we'll see. Arya and Shakacon found out and confirmed we need to talk to Joe. We all meet up at the Gin Inn for Teeki and Thrall to get the job and find out the guy knows we are all together... this guy has connections in this town (need to watch our backs here). We decide to head out in the morning after we get some information on the possible security of the cargo we are after. Back to Crossroads we go.

Once there Thrall and I create a diversion for one of the guards while Teeki diverts the other. Garrett gets in and searches 3 out of the 4 locked cases in the first carriage. No luck on finding the cargo. Time to venture inside... what to do... what to do?

Dear Journal,

I must admit that I was frustrated because Arya and I spent a considerable amount of time trying to discover information at the Dew Drop Inn to no avail. The only good information any of us retrieved is that it appears the scoundrels we are looking for are still located within the mountains. That is where we need to focus our efforts. However, currently, I find myself horribly frustrated in my current predicament. I am driven to find my savior Jathan, who rescued me from bondage as a child, but my group mates have embroiled me in a task that I feel is a red herring and will bear no fruit towards my goal. Even though I admire some members of my group (Arya, Emanwen and perhaps Garret), others have already started to annoy me (Teeki with her chatterbox mentality and Thrall who thinks with other parts of his body rather than his brain). It is Teeki and Thrall who I blame for our current predicament or rather "Wild Goose Chase" sending us off in the complete opposite way from where we clearly need to go which is the mountains. Time is critical and this is clearly a waste of ours, but I must support my group mates even if I find them in error. Based on what we discovered at Jathan's inn room, I have no doubt evil has befallen him and the sooner we set to the task at hand the better. I am sure, that with time, I will forgive Thrall and Teeki, but right now they had better steer clear of me!

Please feel free to post your story from session 2 and from session 1 if you haven't already. If you keep your stories up to date, you get 50 experience points for each game session you write about.

Also, I forgot to mention that the first two guys you saw scouting the perimiter of the camp were unknown to you, but the other two guys you know from when you were captive slaves. One of them, Fidge, isa douche, but not really known for his combat prowess and not particularly cruel. The other is Crazy Tom, who is a real sick bastage and has some combat skills to back up his attitude. The six of you can probably take him now that you are armed and dangerous.

Oh, and Enamwen and Shakacon also get 50 exps for their game 1 stories.

Dear Journal,

Tonight is a much better time for me. We were able to successfully complete our task with the Puzzle box and collected our money. My group mates each performed their tasks well. It seems that my orc companion has picked up a "pet" of sorts, dare I say "girl friend"? Luckily for us, his intrigue for the night with her did not result in damage done to the room saving us some additional cost.

I lay here in anticipation for tomorrow we will begin to take the necessary action to not only to discover the whereabouts of Jathan and the opportunity to strike at the heart of our enemy. We will be attacking M's camp, with the added bonus of being paid to destroy it. This promise of coin has made many of my companions excited. I am glad to do this for them because I know how difficult it was for them to walk away from the $10,000 GP at the Inn room. That took a lot of character and it has restored my faith in all of my companions. I wonder at the reason for our being hired to do this and wonder if the person we do this task for also had someone taken or if they are looking to have their business similar to M's. Of course, there is another possibility that this is an elaborate trap for us all. We must be sure to be strong on the morrow as we battle for our lives and that of our savior.
My admiration for the unique skill sets of each of my companions continues to grow. Even for the orc who so willingly took damage to protect us lunging in where none of us dared to go. His courage is endless. The little ones who travel with us are quite adept at getting into difficult areas and have proven their worth time and again. Arya and Emanwen continue to show strong leadership and logic in our group. I always try to have at least one of them grouped with the others just so there is a balance of skill and thinking within the groups. So far, this strategy has proven successful.

Tomorrow we will be meeting up with our companions who scouted ahead. Soon I know that I will gain a level in my skills and I have so many decisions to make, such as do I add druidic skills to my reportoire or do I level up my wizarding skills. This decision will be the focus of my thoughts as I meditate this evening. The decision is crucial because it could play an important part in the battle that is about to come.

Tonight I go to bed feeling confident in my companions and focused on what tomorrow will yield for all of us.

Dēore Diurnālis,

I am glad to acquire money and skill on our adventure to find Jathan but I feel that side trip was a bit of a waste other than proving ourselves to the guy who gave us the job. It was quite uneventful for my likes as my main job was to be lookout for everyone else. I can't wait to adventure outside and utilize my skills. I feel more at ease in the wilderness and I look forward to the mountain adventure. Anyway, we seem to be very good together our team, not really skipping a beat. Everyone steps up to the plate when the time is needed and we have fun in between couldn't ask for more really.

After our successful job at the Crossroads we ventured back to Ekron. This time I went with Thrall and Teeki to turn in the job and get our money... also to make sure they didn't pick up any other out of the way jobs:) We were able to score a job in the direction of where we are headed anyway plus it gives us a chance to possibly seek revenge on the slave camp. I am a bit weary that it was so simple to pick up this job but anything that could possibly provide us with the knowledge and experience to find Jathan would be a blessing... let's hope for a safe passage and great victory!

Before we rest, Thrall, Teeki, and Garret, stayed and gambled at the Gin Inn while Arya, Shakacon and I went to speak with Joe to plan our excursion for the next few days. We were able to score Jason as our guide through the mountains and paid him for his silence on the matters of our excursion. We also decided it was a good idea to keep him on a need to know basis for the protection of the entire group.

During our journey we ran across some crazy goblins but they deemed to be unworthy opponents of our group. Ahhh... the smell of victory in the mountains is most loved. I have definitely found peace again on this journey! We set up camp about 2 hours away from our target location and Garret, Teeki and I have gone to scout out our mark. We will meet up again in the morning.

Note to Self:
Can only see 4 people at the target location
1 guard circles the perimeter taking about an hour to do so and then switches with an ally
Does not appear to have captives at the sight although cages are evident
Have not scoped out the inside tents beyond barricades but no one seems to be bringing food in and out of them either

Possible Strategy:
At the top of an hour, when the guards switch positions, take out the look out, then we will have an hour to implement any plan and take out the other 3, raid camp and burn it to the ground. Return to Ekron.

For now I meditate in the trees and center myself with the nature that surrounds me!

Dear Journal,

Our victory at the camp was most excellent! Our team acted with complete precision and everyone played their role well. I was impressed by the marksmanship (or should I say markswomanship) of our ranger. Her arrow struck to many a time (and missed my ear a few times as well). Even though Marrick was not at the camp and nor was our dear friend Jathan, we were able to find clues at the camp that will hopefully lead us to our friend. The reason I say hopefully is because there is something not quite right about the two notes in Sir Cedric's section of the rolodex we discovered at the camp. The handwriting on the two notes are different as if one were a set up. But a set up for who and why? Marrick? Us? I am not sure so I shall be wary as we continue on our journey.
So, one would think I would be celebrating our amazing victory at the camp, but instead this night finds my heart filled with sorrow and regret. Why, you ask?
Because our guide, Jason, has died in addition to all my comrades horses. I was taking a fancy to that robust young man and was looking forward to a dalliance once all of this questing was behind us. Now, his athletic body lays waste to the elements. I am not sure how the Adventurer's Guild will receive us when we bring in his dead body. Especially now that my comrades and I have stripped him of his wealth. They will surely think we killed him ourselves for our own gain. I hope that decision does not haunt us forever.

Also, I worry for Jathan. If the second note is legit and not a trap, then our friend is in greater peril than we ever thought possible. We must continue on our efforts and be forever diligent as we try to save our friend.

Dēore Diurnālis,

Last I left you, I was waiting for the rest of my friends to meet up and siege the camp. Once we were all there we took out the perimeter guard. We continued on towards the camp where we split up and surrounded the camp. Thrall and Arya took the front while the rest of us took the back and spread out. We took out the first 2 guards in an arrow flying frenzy. Poor Shakacon, I missed her by inches twice... maybe before battle I should shoot a few practice shots to make sure my comrades will be safe in the event I miss my target when flanked. I sometimes forget just how powerful my bow and arrow are. I must commend Thrall on his brutal strength, even though we were basically in a ranged battle he charged one guy and destroyed him in a blink of an eye... I'm glad he is on my side!

We were victorious on our quest and gained a few potions, a magic necklace, and what looks to be Marrick's contact book. These items surely will come in handy in the near future. It seems the intel we have received from the last guy we defeated is to find Sir Cedrick. If we are to find him we will surely find Marrick and our friend, Jathan, who is possibly being held captive and about to die. Thrall loaded the wagon with the items from the shed. After we burned the camp grounds to the ground we were off to meet up with our mountain guide Jason. When we arrived back at our camp everything was gone... our horses, our stuff, and our guide. I started to become a bit uneasy. There seemed to be an ominous feeling around the area we were in.

We eventually came into battle with these horrible creatures, dire rats but in the end they were fairly easy for us to defeat.... must of been the adrenaline from earlier. We moved forward and found Jason, our horses, and more dire rats but this time everything(one) was dead. We found no trace of what could have done this but we did find traces of magic left behind on what looks like burn marks on Jason and the animals. We collected our belongings and Jason and continue towards Ekron to complete our job and give solstice to Jason's family.

Today has been quite the adventure. I hope there is still time to move onto Hammerfell and save our friend before it is too late.

Dear Journal,

There is so much I have to tell you. Our trip to Hammerfell and especially Sir Cedric's party was amazing! I am still unsure if all we learned was true or just a hoax to lead us astray. We used a truth capsule but Sir Cedric supplied them so they could be a trick or he could simply be immune. However, one of the facts he gave us that was the most shocking of all should be easy enough to discover if it is true.
Our dear friend that we are questing to save is non other than the King's brother! Jathan is of royal birth and is most highly respected of spies and of the highest level of security. We do not know what to make of this. We know that Jathan is good but wonder why he hid this information from us. We also wonder why he contacted us to help him instead of his brother the king.
I think our next course of action needs to be to visit the King and find out the truth and find out what assignment our friend was last assigned to. Also, we need to set our spies upon Cedric so we can track his moves and who he visits for some time. Even though we have agreed to join forces with him, we cannot truly trust him.

Despite the questions I have about Jathan, I still trust him because it was he who risked all so many years ago to save us.

Dear Journal,

These last two days have turned our world upside-down. We now question everything we have thought to be fact to be unknown. Our friend Jathan, is he truly our friend, or is he the methodical chess master who plans his moves decades ahead? Are we truly his pawns or the pawns of someone else? Do we believe in Cedric who we do not know but who has twice passed our checks for dishonesty? These thoughts consume me. So we venture out to once more find the truth. It is a complicated plan but our goal is to go to Ekron and find out who tried to trick us into killing Cedric on sight.

To help us with our journey Cedric will be gifting each of us with a special gift. I have researched and now must decide what item I would like. There are so many to choose from that would help me on my journey or ones that would be so much fun. But I must be practical in the one that I choose. I have decided that I will request the Rust Bag of Tricks. I have contacted Cedrick to make this request and he has told me he would work on acquiring it for me.

I wonder what our next adventure will bring and I worry about my friends soon to be put into jail. I worry that they will be harmed or worse as they wait to be let free.

Can I get a run down on what has happened since the last game I was at. Also, will you let me know what the special items are that Emanwen has acquired. The half-orc, Thrall, has forgotten and he never wrote it down... probably because he's illiterate:) Can't wait to see everyone tomorrow.
