So there's a new crusierweight champion and I wonder if Redders will be able to handle this? :hmm:

I don't care. I don't have the time or inclination to watch Raw, usually don't find the time to watch Smackdown, I didn't watch the CWC, so I'm not going to watch this especially after seeing how bland the crusierweights are.

I like the move though, WWE making a very specific show for the Network. It's what I wanted them to do 2 years ago in making the Network this central hub for accessing world wrestling. I was thinking they could work a deal with New Japan and broadcast New Japan stuff in the United States and do the same with Mexican Lucha promotions like AAA and CMLL. I thought that such a move would bring in new revenue for these international promotions while also keeping subscriptions for the network higher than they are now. I figured that this was a way WWE could keep the WWE Network fresh by airing non-WWE programming so they wouldn't spread themselves so thin and maybe even create some competition.

Of course none of that happened and WWE did the exact opposite; there's nothing on the WWE Network that WWE doesn't outright own. I really don't think there's anything that can be done to keep WWE and wrestling as a whole from being sucked down into a bottomless pit.

Due to extended work hours and this starting at 3AM in the morning, I couldn't.

However now watched it, I'm surprised. But pleasantly surprised.

It was estimated that half of the crowd at last night’s WWE SmackDown left before the main event of 205 Live happened with Rich Swann winning the Cruiserweight Championship from Brian Kendrick. A significant number of fans left right after the SmackDown main event and more continued to leave during 205 Live. Many did not stay to see the dark main event of the night, which saw Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler defeat The Miz and AJ Styles.

Honestly, if 205 Live was to become a thing, it should've been at Full Sail:

1) Because the crowd would actually appreciate it (or be heard appreciating it);
2) Much easier to hype someone coming up to the full-time roster following time in Orlando.
3) Freedom! (Even though the show's on the Network anyway)

The show got stuck in a pretty shitty spot since they insisted it be a live show. People want to go home after Smackdown so they aren't going to stick around for a show that's been a dud on Raw.

Redders is right with how it should have been done.

205 Live is basically just Smackdown's 3rd hour without being broadcast on television. 3 hours is a long time to sit through a wrestling show and unless it's one of the big ppv's, people can't do it. This is why the crowd for Raw's third hour just dies come the end of the show. It doesn't help on Raw that 2 and a half hours in, the crowd is murdered with Shining Stars vs Golden Truth or Jack Swagger vs Curtis Axel.

Doing the same thing to a Smackdown crowd, only replacing low card filler with Crusierweights that have no direction and can't create a connection with the audience is not going to work.

I don't blame the Crusierweights, it's not there fault that WWE completely dropped the ball on how to get them over. I think it was Static who said that the CWC seemed like the plan to get them over, but I don't know how many people watched the CWC. I know I didn't and if I didn't, a lot of other people didn't either and from what I've seen from the entire roster, I'm not going to be surprised if this whole Crusierweight experiment gets removed from Raw permanently and winds up only on the Network.
