205 Live Preview: January 9, 2018

Last week on WWE 205 Live, Gentleman Jack Gallagher unleashed a cruel attack on Hideo Itami. Not one to be disrespected, how will Itami respond? Plus, will Cedric Alexander have another opportunity to challenge for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship?

Will Cedric Alexander have another opportunity for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship?

Returning from a bout with the flu, WWE Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore finally defended his title against Cedric Alexander last night on Raw. In recent weeks, Alexander has built a great deal of momentum against The Certified G and The Zo Train – and has also made a formidable new ally in Goldust – only helping his prospect for the biggest match of his career.

Early in the contest, Alexander proved he was more than ready for the champion, and despite Muscles Marinara desperately pushing his opponent off the top rope to the outside, Cedric displayed why he is one of the most exciting Cruiserweights on the roster. However, as Alexander was closing in on winning the title, The Certified G appeared to injure his ankle after his opponent dove to the outside and landed on him. With Enzo unable to continue the match, Alexander won by count-out, but The Realest Champ in the Room retained the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.

The flurry of offense from Alexander in the latter half of the match was overwhelming for Enzo, who also suffered a cut above the eye. Alexander’s speed and athleticism proved to be the deciding factor, and a victory against the champion gives Alexander a great case for another opportunity.

Will he get another chance, or will The Certified G find a way to keep Alexander from his coveted title?

How will Hideo Itami react to Gentleman Jack Gallagher’s attack?

Last week on WWE 205 Live, Gentleman Jack Gallagher was set to square off in a rematch against Hideo Itami. Gallagher was seeking retribution for his compatriot, The Brian Kendrick, who was injured at the hands of Itami following an impactful Go to Sleep on the Christmas edition of Raw. Despite losing to the Japanese Superstar the next night on WWE 205 Live, Gallagher was prepared for a fight.

Although the match never got underway, the two Superstars exchanged blows with Itami countering an early surprise attack only to be leveled with a steel pipe that the British Superstar hid in his umbrella. Gallagher then unleashed his trademark cruelty, using the pipe to attack Itami and inflict maximum damage before officials intervened.

The attack by Gallagher was bold and certainly lived up to his promises of bad intentions since partnering with The Brian Kendrick. However, Itami has come to the Cruiserweight division demanding respect and is well-known for his hard-hitting ways, so it is almost certain he will not take Gallagher’s actions lightly. Does the British Superstar have the upper hand, or has he truly underestimated Itami?

As Cedric Alexander continues to build momentum heading into his challenge for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at Royal Rumble against Enzo Amore, is there anything The Certified G and The Zo Train can do to slow him down?

IS TJP too overconfident?

Two weeks ago on WWE 205 Live, inaugural WWE Cruiserweight Champion TJP made his return to the home of the Cruiserweights, defeating former champion Akira Tozawa. It was a bold statement for The Duke of Dab to make upon his return, and he appeared laser-focused on reclaiming the top spot in the Cruiserweight division.

Last week, TJP battled Gran Metalik in a rematch from the finals of 2016’s Cruiserweight Classic, and he was victorious in that initial meeting and would go on to win the tournament – a fact The Fil-Am Flash was all too happy to remind his opponent of before the match. Unfortunately for TJP, history did not repeat itself, and he was defeated by Metalik.

As the masked Superstar celebrated with his friend Kalisto, an irate TJP took out his aggression by trashing the announce table and overturning the steel steps. There is no doubting The Duke of Dab’s accolades or his success in helping build WWE 205 Live, but as the competition has only intensified – especially during his hiatus – has TJP’s confidence become a detriment that affects his in-ring ability?

Cedric Alexander is ready for a new era of WWE 205 Live.

There has been no question that Cedric Alexander has built a formidable amount of momentum in recent weeks during his chase to capture the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. With his new ally Goldust in his corner, Alexander has only continued to show the Cruiserweight division and the WWE Universe why he one of the top contenders at 205 pounds and under.

Last week on WWE 205 Live, Alexander displayed his cunning repertoire by feigning a leg injury in an effort to defeat – and embarrass – Tony Nese in front of WWE Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore. For his part, The Certified G has managed to evade Alexander due to circumstances out of his control. First, he came down with the flu at the beginning of the year, postponing their Cruiserweight Championship battle, and the next week when they did square off, Enzo injured his ankle and retained the title by losing via count-out.

Despite the string of bad luck for The Realest Champ in the Room, Alexander has shown little sympathy for his nemesis, kicking Enzo’s injured ankle after defeating Nese last week on WWE 205 Live. On Raw, Alexander once again defeated The Premier Athlete in front of Enzo, continuing to build more momentum before their championship match at Royal Rumble.

Although Cedric Alexander and Goldust are prepared for the Age of Alexander to begin in the Cruiserweight division, will The Certified G and The Zo Train be able to put a stop to Alexander’s string of success before the Cruiserweight Championship Match?

205 Live Preview: January 23, 2018

After failing to defeat Gran Metalik two weeks in a row, has TJP figured out the formula necessary to regain his momentum and continue his quest back to the top of the Cruiserweight division? Plus, is Gentleman Jack Gallagher’s rage too much for Hideo Itami?

Can Hideo Itami counter Gentleman Jack Gallagher’s rage?

Last week on WWE 205 Live, Gentleman Jack Gallagher delivered a clear message to Hideo Itami. The British Superstar vowed that his arch nemesis would regret ever setting foot in WWE 205 Live. Gallagher cited the teachings of his mentor The Brian Kendrick – who was sidelined with a devastating injury at the hands of Itami on Christmas Day – and revealed that he had plans for the Japanese Superstar.

Gallagher already displayed his cruelty when he attacked Itami with a steel pipe and mercilessly continued his assault. Despite Itami seeking retribution a week later by driving Gallagher from the ring during a heated confrontation, the British Superstar is only emboldened by his burning festering disdain for Itami.

Can Hideo Itami deter Gentleman Jack Gallagher’s fury, or will he truly rue the day he joined the WWE Cruiserweight division?

How can TJP get back on track?

Three weeks ago, the winner of the Cruiserweight Classic and inaugural WWE Cruiserweight Champion TJP made a triumphant return after a three-month hiatus. Defeating former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Akira Tozawa, The Duke of Dab certainly proved he hadn’t lost a step and was ready to once again reach the top of the Cruiserweight division.

However, TJP’s plans were altered drastically in the following two weeks. In his second match back, The Fil-Am Flash battled Gran Metalik in a rematch from the Cruiserweight Classic finals. Despite being a highly-competitive contest, TJP was defeated and left shell-shocked as a result.

Upset about the outcome, the first-ever Cruiserweight Champion toppled the ring steps and the announce table in a fit of rage.
Demanding a rematch last week, TJP once again battled Gran Metalik in a showcase of Cruiserweight competition, but TJP again suffered a shocking defeat.

Despite scoring a statement-making win in his comeback match against Tozawa, TJP has been unable to capture that same momentum and convert it into a victory against Gran Metalik. Does The Fil-Am Flash need to set aside his arrogance and focus solely on victory, or has he truly met his match in Gran Metalik?

Now 205 Live will get their own General Manager too because why not. Apparently that's what they've needed this whole time
