205 Live Preview: July 11, 2017

Tonight on WWE 205 Live, the long-standing rivalry between Cedric Alexander and Noam Dar reaches a pinnacle moment in an "I Quit Match." Plus, how will WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville respond to Akira Tozawa using his own tactics against him?

Akira Tozawa isn't finished with Neville.

At last Sunday’s WWE Great Balls of Fire Kickoff, WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville learned first-hand why Akira Tozawa has the reputation of being The Stamina Monster. Despite a brutal onslaught by The King of the Cruiserweights, Tozawa powered back to give the champion a worthy and extremely physical challenge. Unable to keep his opponent at bay, Neville seized an opportunity when he landed Tozawa crotch-first on the ropes, then kicked them to maximize their effect before delivering a final kick to the gut for the victory.

Not satisfied with the way he was defeated, the Japanese Superstar insisted that Titus O'Neil secure a rematch. The following night on Raw, Tozawa teamed with Cedric Alexander to battle Neville & Noam Dar, and it was The King of the Cruiserweights who ended up landing crotch-first on the ropes. Seeking retribution – and reciprocating from the previous night – Tozawa kicked the ropes before landing a senton from the top rope and pinning the champion.

Although Neville was victorious at WWE Great Balls of Fire, he learned that Akira Tozawa is not a competitor that will stand for the type of nefarious tactics the Cruiserweight Champion employs to remain seated on his throne. With Tozawa clearly still a contender the Cruiserweight division's most coveted prize, how will The King of the Cruiserweights respond to The Powa of Tozawa's tactics from Raw?

Will Cedric Alexander or Noam Dar “quit” their intense rivalry?

The long-standing rivalry between Cedric Alexander and Noam Dar reaches its peak tonight on WWE 205 Live, when the two Superstars face off in an "I Quit Match." Last week on Raw, Alexander – not fooled by Alicia Fox's attempts to distract him – defeated Dar in short order. Since his return from injury, Alexander has tried to move away from the sordid love triangle involving his ex-girlfriend and his nemesis. Meanwhile, The Scottish Supernova has been trying to distance himself from Alexander, so that he can focus squarely on building his relationship with Fox and advancing his career.

However, the former Divas Champion is a woman scorned –dedicated to making Cedric Alexander's life miserable, she has demanded that Dar interfere with her former beau's matches. Though it appears that Fox is the driving force behind this rivalry, tonight's "I Quit Match" is the ultimate way for Dar and Alexander to settle their differences. Armed with respective arsenals of technical mat skills and a desire to put a definitive win between them, the WWE Universe is certainly in for a highly competitive bout between two Cruiserweight standouts.

Don't miss WWE 205 Live, tonight at 10/9 C, on the award-winning WWE Network.

205 Live Preview: July 18, 2017

Tonight on WWE 205 Live, Mustafa Ali and Drew Gulak compete in the ultimate battle to determine who has the better in-ring style in a 2-out-3 Falls Match. Plus, can Akira Tozawa fight through the damage inflicted by WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville?

Is Tozawa too injured to compete?

Despite his loss to WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville at the first-ever WWE Great Balls of Fire pay-per-view – albeit by some questionable tactics from the champion – Akira Tozawa remains laser-focused on dethroning The King of the Cruiserweights.

However, last week on WWE 205 Live, Tozawa’s match against Ariya Daivari ended prematurely when Neville attacked and locked his nemesis in the Rings of Saturn. The extent of the damage done during the attack was unknown for nearly a week until Daivari and the Japanese Superstar squared off once more on Raw. During the contest, it was clear Tozawa was favoring his shoulder and The Persian Lion pounced. Neville’s attack, combined with Daivari’s merciless targeting of Tozawa’s shoulder led to Titus O’Neil quitting on behalf of his client.

After the match, Tozawa – upset that O’Neil made him quit – demanded that the Founder and CEO of Titus Worldwide secure not only a rematch with Neville for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, but also a rematch with Daivari.

Tozawa may be over-exerting himself, especially if he’s nursing an injury, and that makes him especially vulnerable to The King of the Cruiserweights. Can The Stamina Monster fight through the pain, or will O’Neil’s decision on Raw turn out to be the right one?

Drew Gulak has two chances to ground Mustafa Ali for good.

Last week on WWE 205 Live, Drew Gulak issued a challenge to his nemesis, Mustafa Ali, who immediately accepted. The two Superstars will compete in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match to truly determine whether Gulak’s ground game or Ali’s aerial assault is better-suited for the Cruiserweight division. In recent weeks, Ali has proven that he can execute both high-flying and technical maneuvers to defeat his nemesis, but Gulak has tried and failed to go airborne. That failure – which Gulak apologized for – is what led to the challenge. Now, Gulak has the chance to defeat Ali twice and strengthen his case for making WWE 205 Live a “no-fly zone.”

However, Ali won’t be grounded so easily. In a tag team match on Raw, the Chicago native sent a clear message to his opponent by scoring a pinfall on The Brian Kendrick following a jaw-dropping inverted 450 splash.

Will Gulak suffer the same fate and flounder his anti-high-flying campaign, or will he prove that his way is the righteous path? Find out tonight at 10/9 C, streaming live on the award-winning WWE Network.

205 Live Preview: July 25, 2017

After attacking WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville on Raw, Ariya Daivari has the opportunity to prove he is ready for championship contention in a non-title battle against The King of the Cruiserweights. Plus, TJP and Tony Nese face Rich Swann and Cedric Alexander in tag team action.

"Friendly" tag team competition.

Last week on WWE 205 Live, TJP decided to up the ante in his friendly competition with Rich Swann. After Swann’s victory against The Duke of Dab, TJP bested his friendly rival's time against a local competitor, and now The Fil-Am Flash claimed that it's Swann - not the WWE Universe - questioning his motives. Expanding on his assertion, TJP suggested that Swann hates coming in second to him and he's still bitter about being eliminated from the Cruiserweight Classic by The Duke of Dab. With that, TJP issued another challenge to his friendly rival: find a tag team partner.

Swann obliged, and on Raw it was revealed that he and Cedric Alexander would battle TJP and "The Premier Athlete" Tony Nese on WWE 205 Live. Alexander is a logical choice for Swann, as the two are good friends and Alexander brings an exemplary Cruiserweight style to the ring that complements Swann's ability. TJP's choice of Tony Nese is interesting, as he gets a formidable competitor that mixes speed and pure strength. His in-ring style is in stark contrast to TJP, but that could be exactly what The Duke of Dab is counting on to rack up another "friendly" victory against Rich Swann.

Is Daivari ready for the "Neville level?"

During their match last week on Raw, Ariya Daivari realized that Akira Tozawa's shoulder was injured and took advantage of his opponent's condition. This led to Titus O'Neil quitting the match on behalf of his client, which resulted in a rematch between them on WWE 205 Live.

Despite his injury and brutal targeting by The Persian Lion, Tozawa was victorious, but still wanted retribution after Daivari zeroed in on his shoulder. As a result, a still-injured Tozawa insisted on facing Daivari on Raw, again much to the chagrin of O'Neil.

As Tozawa awaited his opponent, WWE Cruiserweight Champion - and the Superstar who injured Tozawa - Neville made his way to the ring. The King of the Cruiserweights happily took credit for the Japanese Superstar's injury and berated his nemesis. Itching for a fight, Tozawa attacked Neville but aggravated his shoulder in the process. This was Daivari's opportunity to strike, and he unleashed on Tozawa.

In a shocking turn of events, The Persian Lion helped Neville to his feet before attacking the WWE Cruiserweight Champion and motioning to the title, suggesting that it was now his time to reign.

Because of Daivari's actions, he will have the opportunity to prove he is ready to ascend the throne of the Cruiserweight division and will face Neville tonight on WWE 205 Live. Is it Daivari's time to shine, or will The King of the Cruiserweights extinguish The Persian Lion's hopes? Find out tonight on WWE 205 Live at 10/9 C on the award-winning WWE Network.

205 Live Preview: August 1, 2017

Tonight on WWE 205 Live, Akira Tozawa and Ariya Daivari will battle in singles competition to determine who will face Neville for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at SummerSlam. Also, has The Brian Kendrick finally made Gentleman Jack Gallagher snap?

Has The Brian Kendrick pushed Gentleman Jack Gallagher to his limit?

For weeks, The Brian Kendrick has been berating Gentleman Jack Gallagher and hurling verbal assaults to get inside the British Superstar’s head. The Man with a Plan has impersonated Gallagher, mercilessly beaten down an ambitious competitor hailing from Gallagher’s home of Manchester, UK – all because he believes that underneath the three-piece suit, umbrella and fancy mustache, Gallagher is just another run-of-the-mill competitor.

Kendrick believes his indignation with Gallagher is righteous and that his nemesis’ personality dishonors the hard-work and dedication of Superstars like Kendrick. However, the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion may have finally pushed Gallagher over the edge – seemingly exactly what Kendrick wants.

Last week on WWE 205 Live, Kendrick transformed a picture of Gallagher into a clown, expressing his true feelings for the British gentleman. Rather than exchange words, Gallagher decided it was time for action and charged the ring. However, the sly Kendrick escaped through the crowd with a smile on his face, potentially executing his plan to perfection.

Will Gallagher once again confront Kendrick? What is The Man with a Plan’s end goal for Gentleman Jack?

Who will face WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville at SummerSlam?

Despite a loss to Neville as WWE Great Balls of Fire, Akira Tozawa has made a strong case for a rematch given the questionable tactics The King of the Cruiserweights used to maintain his throne. However, an attack by Neville in the days after their battle left The Stamina Monster with a shoulder injury that has affected his in-ring ability.

Ariya Daivari – believing it is his time to ascend to the top of the Cruiserweight division – seized the opportunity, engaging in a series of matches with Tozawa and targeting his injured shoulder. The Persian Lion made his true intentions known last week when he attacked Neville on Raw and held the title above his head. The following night on WWE 205 Live, Daivari claimed a victory against the WWE Cruiserweight Champion by Count-out.

Both Tozawa and Daivari have made strong cases to challenge for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, and they battle in singles competition tonight to decide once and for all who will face Neville for the title at SummerSlam. While Daivari hopes to be celebrated like other Iranian athletes that have achieved Olympic and championship glory, Tozawa aims to prove that he – not Neville – is the true gold standard when it comes to the Cruiserweight division.

Who will challenge WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville at The Biggest Event of the Summer? Find out tonight at 10/9 C on the award-winning WWE Network!

205 Live Preview: August 8, 2017

Tonight on WWE 205 Live, Rich Swann and TJP are set to battle in singles competition, and if it’s anything like their bout in early July, it will be an instant classic. Plus, has The Brian Kendrick pushed Gentleman Jack Gallagher too far?

Did The Brian Kendrick get more than he bargained for with Gentleman Jack Gallagher?

After weeks of launching physical and verbal attacks at Gentleman Jack Gallagher, The Brian Kendrick felt the full weight of the British Superstar’s rage last week on WWE 205 Live. There is an argument to be made that Kendrick’s motivation was to unleash the more aggressive side of Gallagher, but even he wasn’t expecting the type of punishment dished out inside the squared circle.

One week removed from transforming an image of Gallagher into a clown, The Man with a Plan found out exactly how serious his nemesis can be. Beneath the unique in-ring style, three-piece suit and umbrella, Gentleman Jack Gallagher is a fighter. Thinking Gallagher was just an empty act, Kendrick was prepared to prove his opponent’s unworthiness. Instead, Gentleman Jack decimated Kendrick and was disqualified after ignoring the official’s orders.

However, Gallagher didn’t relent in his attack, taking Kendrick to the outside where the former Cruiserweight Champion made his escape through the crowd. Now that Kendrick has unleashed a new side of Gentleman Jack, has he made a mistake, or is this all part of the plan?

The friendly rivalry between Rich Swann and TJP escalates.

Since beginning their “friendly” rivalry, TJP has been laser-focused on proving that he is an all-around better competitor than Rich Swann. Both Superstars are former WWE Cruiserweight Champions, but TJP was also the winner of the Cruiserweight Classic – and Swann has been attempting to bring TJP back to that status following The Duke of Dab’s alliance with WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville.

Tonight on WWE 205 Live, TJP and Swann will battle one-on-one. In recent weeks, TJP has bested his rival in tag team competition and defeated the same opponent at a faster pace. However, if the contest is anything like the last time the former WWE Cruiserweight Champions collided in singles competition – on the July 4 episode of WWE 205 Live – you will absolutely not want to miss it.

Will TJP earn ultimate bragging rights in the rivalry, or will Swann once again prove to be superior in singles competition? Find out tonight on WWE 205 Live at 10/9 C, on the award-winning WWE Network.
