I believe it. Everytime I saw Rock hit Foley with a chair it looked like Rock was swinging for decapitation. Chances are that was at Foley's suggestion, but still, ouch. |

JBL was always a stiff-as-fuck worker, though. He's a good guy but a bit old world when in the ring. And in the shower... |

That's the match where Eddie bladed way too deep. This is why there are no more chair shots either. |

It's already been booked - I got a great deal on Priceline!

It's shots like that, that make me happy head shots don't happen anymore... unless you're Triple H of course, who's been guilty of the two most recent head shots. |

Week-long concussions, not using protection, and guys trying to prove how 'tough' they are is why there's no head chair shots anymore. |

Triple H took it with his own permission and happily paid the fine. Also, the Undertaker one was a really textbook chair shot; clean hit, and Taker protected himself by putting his hand up. I like the fact that head shots are no longer used. If they are ever used again, it would be like the final insult; like the most extreme thing you could do to a guy. ECW did a lot of things right but by pushing the envelope, the extreme becomes the mundane, and that's why chair shots began to seem like nothing. |

Daniel Bryan was recently interviewed by Adelaide Now out of Australia as a way to promote WrestleMania 31. Below are some highlights of what was said: On being in the IC Ladder match instead of the main event: ''For a year, I had this vision of me wrestling (former UFC champion) Brock Lesnar in the main event for the WWE Championship. But sometimes, when you don't get what you want, you end up getting something better — like this ladder match. I think with the guys we have in that match and the excitement we can generate, we have a real chance of stealing the show.'' On Connor ''The Crusher'' Michalek: ''This is really, really difficult for me. You talk about us inspiring people with what we do, and what we do really is a selfish job. Actors, musicians, artists, wrestlers — we all entertain people but really we are doing it for ourselves, for our art. It wasn't until I got to the WWE, that I really felt what I do could make a positive difference in other people's lives — and the first time I really felt like that was when I met Connor. You know how some people have a bright light shining out when you meet them? I don't know if people understand this sometimes, but while we're performers who inspire people we, too, are people — and we can be inspired as well.'' On wanting to make the IC Title and SmackDown important again: ''One of the things that frustrates me — both as a performer and as a person who thinks the current crop of superstars is really, really good — is the way people don't get opportunities. It's well known that the people who are perceived to be 'the bigger Superstars' don't show up often on SmackDown, they mostly feature on (the main show), Monday Night Raw. One of the things I'd like to do, as a kind of near-main event guy, is to do things that provide opportunities for guys to really stand out.'' On Vince McMahon's ''millennial'' comments and his claims that Cesaro is ''missing something'': ''I think that's only one man's opinion, and I don't think Cesaro has had a chance to show Vince that there's nothing missing. You let Cesaro and I have a match on SmackDown and I guarantee that, by the end of it, people will either love him or hate him … he will get a very strong reaction.'' |

Jim Ross recently updated his blog. These are some highlights: On Samoa Joe: ''I had a great conversation Monday night with @SamoaJoe for a future podcast. Joe is one of the most intelligent and perceptive athletes that I've spoken with on our podcast and I certainly hope that WWE signs him as he could be invaluable in multiple areas for the wrestling side of the company IMO. It was the first time that we had talked in over a decade when I told him that, at that time, he wasn't ready to be signed to a WWE contract to which Joe said motivated him and that he respected my honesty. Over the years I've become a big fan of his physical style but him getting trained in the Japanese style of wrestling helped him a great deal to become the star that he is today.'' On Sting: ''Great seeing Sting on WWE TV which, for the longest time, I thought would likely never occur. Steve Borden is one of the best men in the biz and has always been a class act and one of my favorite people to work with over the years including his early days working in Mid South for Cowboy Bill Watts. I am beyond thrilled to see Sting finally get his 'WrestleMania Moment' this year as it is well earned and will be a moment that I will personally celebrate with The Stinger. Good things do often times happen to good people even in the wacky world of 'rasslin.'' On Larry Zbyszko and Kevin Nash in the WWE Hall Of Fame: ''Happy for Larry Zybszko going into the WWE HOF with Bruno Sammartino set to induct him. We all have our mentors and Bruno was Larry's and the two Pittsburghers made money and had excellent matches together including the much ballyhooed Shea Stadium event back in the day. Larry was one of the more underrated broadcasters to work in the wrestling biz, too. Sounds as if Kevin Nash will be the final inductee into the 2015 WWE HOF class and for that I'm happy. When Kevin couldn't get the time of day when he first started in WCW, I used him my WSB Sunday night radio show and everyone soon found out that the former Tennessee Vol could talk and talk well. We've been friends ever since.'' Edited by pokajabba, Mar 18 2015, 09:41:04 PM.

On being satisfied if he never wrestles another match in his career: ''I've been very smart over the last ten years in building the Chris Jericho brand, and wrestling is a part of what I do, but it's not by far the biggest thing of what I do by any shape or form. And sometimes that confuses some of my fans, but I really don't care. If I never wrestle another match again, I'm happy with it. I've done all that I ever wanted to do and more. I still like going back [to wrestling] from time to time, because it's fun. But when other things come up, things that I've been working on for a long period of time, they start paying off, well, then you've gotta be there and spend that time on that as well.'' On fans who stick with him through his various career projects and those who don't: ''I've always lived my life doing what I wanna do and what feels right to me — not for money, [and] not what other people want me to do. If I listened to what other people want me to do, I never would have gotten into wrestling in the first place; everyone said I was too small. I never would have gotten into rock and roll in the first place; everyone said, 'You'll never do it.' So I learned a long time ago to be really happy with what you're doing career-wise; you have to follow your heart and do what you feel is right and commit to it. And if you commit to it, you'll make it; you'll do it. And, thankfully, the majority of my fans follow me throughout everything that I do. And if they don't, thanks for being aboard as long as you were. Thanks for being a part of it. And if you feel like you have to go the other way, that's cool too.'' |

I've gained more respect for John Cena's strength the other day. I was training on various rescue carries, and one of course is the fireman's carry. I was partnered with a fairly chubby guy who was 221lbs (or so he said) and he was quite the challenge to get up on my shoulders. After that I realized just how impressive it is when Cena AA's 2 guys at once, especially when its Big Show and Edge. |

Bully Ray recently spoke with Alex Obert while at Tommy Dreamer's ''House of Hardcore VIII'' event in Philadelphia last weekend. These were some highlights from the interview. On returning at the WWE Royal Rumble: ''Well the Royal Rumble is a lot of fun. As far as the reaction was concerned, it was awesome. To be able to come back to Philadelphia ten years after I had left the WWE to that type of reception, you really can't put any words to it. I kind of knew in the back of my head that I was gonna get a warm reception from the Philly crowd. Some people might of been shocked just how big the reaction was. It was overwhelmingly positive. If that was my last time that you ever saw me in a WWE ring again, not that I'm saying that I want it to be, but if that was the last time that you ever saw me, that's a hell of a way to go out!'' On being in the ring with Luke Harper and Bray Wyatt: ''I'm a big fan of those guys. I'm a big fan of most guys in the WWE, they're all extremely passionate about what they do. You can tell that whenever they go out there, they always strive to be the best and steal the show and do the absolute best that they can. The Wyatt Family is kind of reminiscent of the old Dudley clan back in the day. Big fan of Bray. Big fan of Luke and Erick Rowan. They're doing a great job. It was fun to be in there with The Miz. It was fun to be in there with R-Truth doing the What's Up and the 3D. It was all good, lots of fun.'' On possibly appearing at NXT: ''I am open to anything that is fun and that would be good business. Me and D-Von have accomplished so much as a tag team and I've accomplished more than I thought I ever would as a singles guy. If you listen to the fans, they would love to see the Dudley Boyz back in the WWE and help bring that tag team division back to the heights that it once was. Our school is going on almost ten years now and we've been very proud of the students that we turn out. We are very proud of the way we train our students. On a whole, I'm really happy with the way everything has unfolded so far.'' On Rey Mysterio leaving WWE: ''Whenever people leave a company or go to a company, everyone will ask what my thoughts are. It goes on every day. People come and go from companies every day, whether it's wrestling or a bank or a big business or McDonald's, people come and go all the time. When one person stays in a company for too long, they can sometimes get stagnant or stale. So it's good because with Rey leaving WWE now, maybe he'll go do some stuff that will light a fire under his ass even more. And now that opens up a spot for a younger guy in WWE to step up and become the next Rey Mysterio. It's always good for the business when people come and go and rosters constantly get mixed up.'' On Samoa Joe possibly going to WWE: ''That's awesome for Joe. Great! I would love to see Joe be ultra successful in the wrestling business. WWE is the top of the food chain. When you get into pro wrestling, everybody always wants to wrestle for the WWE. Joe went to Ring of Honor, helped build Ring of Honor and he paid his dues there. He went to TNA and helped build TNA, paid his dues. Now he's gonna have an opportunity with the WWE and I hope he knocks it out of the park. He's worked very hard and he deserves it.'' |

CM Punk recently sat down for a lengthy Q&A with FOXSports.com. These were some highlights from the interview: On his recent MMA scrimmage bout: ''Sparring debut, yeah. …It's a baseline going forward to watch and review. And see what I did good at and what I did bad. …We taped it. I'm going to watch it and dissect it. People ask me if I was nervous. There wasn't a single nerve, I wasn't scared. It's part of training. I wanted to do it a lot sooner than they allowed because I figured the sooner I'm doing it, the more often I'm doing it, the better I'll get. Now we'll know what I need to work on more. And to me, that's what I love about MMA: Everything is different. I sparred with a tough SOB wrestler who's a southpaw, and who's to say when I fight if the guy is going to be a lefty, if he's going to be a striker or a wrestler, you know what I mean? Every day I'm in here I'm growing leaps and bounds, and I tend to kind of leave that up to the coaches. People ask me, ''How are you doing?'' And I just kind of say, ''Hey, I don't know.'' All's I know is I'm in there every day and I'm working hard. And I'm getting beat up in here so I don't get beat up in the Octagon.'' On being the most coachable fighter at Roufusport: ''I've been here for two months now. ''Come in the door,'' I said to all the coaches, I said, ''Whatever little I do know, forget it, and that I'm just a moldable piece of clay.'' I think Duke (Roufus) really liked that because I don't have all the . . . say I've been fighting for four years and I was trained by somebody different, Duke would have to almost kind of reverse-engineer everything, get rid of some bad habits. And different camps teach guys striking in a different way. So I'm learning under Duke Roufus, so he wants me doing everything a certain way. So I don't have any habits and I don't have the attitude of, ''Oh, well, no, I learned it this way,'' you know what I mean? I'm the most coachable guy here. I do what my coaches say. So it's not really up to me anymore, 100 percent. I'm leaving it up to Duke (and the other coaches and trainers). The original idea was to come in here, train my ass off for six months and then sit down with all of them, have a little powwow and see where we're at.'' On the timetable for his UFC debut: ''No, I started here in January. In my mind, I'm shooting for the end of the year (to make my UFC debut). So, October at the earliest, December the latest. If they tell me I'm a whiz kid after six months and they think I'm ready; it might be earlier and it might be later, I don't know. I know that's a very vague answer, but I'm taking this extremely seriously. …'' On how often he trains: ''I definitely look at it as a full-time job. I'm here every day of the week. I take weekends off. But I'm here and I train with the pro team every day for two hours. Then some days I do two-a-days, so I'll come back. I live in Chicago, so I'm driving back and forth. Or some days I'm staying up here. So on those days, normally two days a week I come back and do extra, or even when I’m at home I'll do strength and conditioning, run. I'm very much all-in on this.'' On the worst part about his time in WWE: ''The worst part of it? After a while, I would say the worst part of it was their not listening and not understanding, and not getting a break when I probably needed one. Because who's to say where I'd be right now? They're always looking for the next guy, so nobody is really bigger than the company. Not that I ever thought I was, but I thought I was a pretty healthy cog in the machine. I thought I could've been afforded a vacation here or there.'' On the chances he’ll return to WWE: ''Zero.'' |
