No idea what the deal is with Hogan and WWE, but it appears Hogan said nigger during an interview. I mean, I've heard the word so many times before that I personally don't find it offensive anymore, but for a public person like Hulk Hogan who, while his peak fame has come and gone, is still a well known celebrity, he cannot say things that people may find offensive even if they are his honest opinions.

And if he has an agreement with a company and is often seen as a representative of the company, he sure as hell should be keeping such opinions to himself.

"Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation. It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it. This is not who I am. I believe very strongly that every person in the world is important and should not be treated differently based on race, gender, orientation, religious beliefs or otherwise. I am disappointed with myself that I used language that is offensive and inconsistent with my own beliefs."

Contradicting WWE's statement, Hogan's lawyer David Houston has stated that Hogan was not fired, but instead resigned of his own accord. Houston told People, "He decided to resign from WWE because he didn't want to put them or his family through this."

Eight years ago? This is laughable.

From what I've read, someone involved in his legal case with Gawker shared this with the press... information that wasn't supposed to be shared.

If anyone should resign, it should be Vince McMahon for this:

Then again, Vince has quite literally gotten away with everything over the course of his career.

I almost want to post that video on their Facebook/Twitter. To get my self blocked.

If he really was saying this stuff 8 years ago. I can almost guarantee that many people in the current locker room have said N***** in the last 8 years (not on LIVE TV though like Vince).

This shit makes no sense.

I'm sure he'll work with the company in the future but it got too much press coverage. It's strange seeing WWE concerned about how their brand is perceived. 12 years ago, the company the similar media attention as Rockstar Games... not so anymore.

Now, I can't claim to know the full story nor do I know the full extent of his comments. Also, as one of the whitest people alive, I am not at all the authority on how offensive his comments truly are. What I do think I can speak to is that what Hogan said, to the point of what has been released so far, is HONEST. Wrong and, probably ignorant, as they may be, if you were to get a moment of honesty from a very high percentage of white people, you would get very similar notions (WWE's sensitivity and absurd overkill response is telling of something, I believe).

These comments, made a long time ago, in what I understand Hogan thought was a private conversation, seem to be released by sleazy people to a sleazy publication with the sole purpose of defaming a once great icon. Congratulations, mission accomplished. Hopefully, these folks will find karmic justice on the same scale that karma has found Hogan.

WWE's response to this is just absurd. Fire him, fine. You can't have a guy, publicly or even, apparently, privately making these kind of comments as a spokesperson. That's fine, I guess. Benoiting him, though. That's inane, even for WWE, unless there's significantly more to these comments these comments than I know. It's like giving a guy who beat up a woman and threw her on a bunch of guns and a guy who had some footballs deflated the same suspension...

WWE's going to try to erase Hogan while at the same time celebrating someone who said and I quote, "Queering don't make the world work" PUBLICLY is appalling.

If WWE were to treat every racist in their employ to this standard, there would be no WWE history, starting with the owner of the damn company.

Honestly, (again, unless there's more to these comments than I know right now and again, not coming from someone with the authority to speak on how Offensive Hogan's comments are) I find this far less appalling than some of the comments Hogan has made (and some of these were public, I believe) about the kid whose life Hogan's idiot son effectively ended and his family.

All in all, this is a bad day for wrestling. Not simply because I get to see one of my hero's made to be the villain, but with the shameful way WWE has overreacted to this.

Again, though, I have learned, even if WWE won't, to separate the character from the man.

Back in the day I would have looked at Hulk Hogan as a hero, but after years of realization to what he did to professional wrestling and being one of the main reasons why WCW and TNA imploded has changed my opinion of Hogan.

But does Hogan deserve this shunning? No, I think using an epithet to describe someone who isn't the same race/gender/orientation/nationality/age/financial status/etc. isn't something that shows a person's true nature. Hogan calling one black a nigger doesn't mean Hogan feels that way about every black person ever. In fact, Hogan saying nigger doesn't show any predilection that he feels any certain way towards black people at all.

Of course, I'd have to read the transcripts and listen to the audio to make a full conclusion about this, but to me this situation means as much to me as Michael Richards screaming "He's a nigger!" to a couple hecklers who harassed him all night, which was said more out of frustration than anything else.

This is the absolute best thing to come out of WWE cutting all ties with Hogan. When I first heard the news, this was exactly what I hoped would happen, and Im now so thankful that he was fucking fired.

WWE Studios is another company that will see some fallout from the Hulk Hogan racism controversy.

Hogan has an extended sequence early in the WWE Studios produced film, “Celebrity Death Pool,” however there have already been discussions about what they can do to edit around the scene or re-shoot the Hogan scenes in the movie with someone else.

At the end of the day, it’s pretty unlikely that they will be able to edit around Hogan. They would be able to re-shoot, however that would cost them.

As previously reported, WWE has informed all licensees that current and future Hogan-related items are to be nixed. This includes WWE 2K16, WWE action figures and t-shirts, as well as other projects. WWE was so thorough in removing Hogan mentions that they even pulled the streaming of Hogan’s theme song.

Jim Ross recently shared his thoughts on the Hulk Hogan situation on his latest blog (jrsbarbq.com):

''Biggest news story of the day is the Hulk Hogan racist remarks controversy. I'm not sure what I'm expected to say about this sad and unfortunate matter except that there is obviously no place in our world for racism or racist banter. Hulk made a grievous error in judgment, a major mistake, that he will have to live with this rest of his days. One can only hope that every one who this matter touches can learn from it and move forward in a positive manner. The WWE acted quickly and decisively in this matter to which they are to be commended.

In any organization, there should be zero tolerance for matters such as this along with domestic violence and, to a large degree, drug policy violations, as well. The only way changes that are needed in our society can evolve is to penalize the offenders as severely as the law will allow so that those that follow think twice or three times before traveling down the same road.

It will intriguing as to how Hogan will attempt to rehabilitate his damaged image and what the future holds for him. We live in a forgiving society when those that want forgiveness and hopefully that will be the case here over the course of time. No one should celebrate the misery of others nor can these transgressions go unaddressed. Being human, we all make mistakes and all we can hope to accomplish from those errors is to never make them again and to learn from them as well. Hopefully, after his long and memorable career within the squared circle, Hulk Hogan's lasting legacy will not be that of his actions that have come to light in the past several hours.''

Boxing legend George Foreman came to the defense of Hulk Hogan regarding the racism controversy surrounding the WWE Hall Of Famer today.

Foreman, the former boxing heavyweight champion of the world, spoke to TMZ about Hogan, noting that he has known “The Hulkster” for over 20 years and says, “he is no racist.”

“I have known Hulk Hogan for well over 20 years,” Foreman said. “I do not condone the language he used, but he is no racist, he is a good guy.”

Foreman concluded, “He is a friend of mine. We have hung out together and we have even been in the ring together. I consider him a friend.”

Brooke Hogan wrote a poem on Facebook in response to the recent controversy surrounding her father:

~If You Knew My Father~
By Brooke Bollea

If you knew the dad I knew,
you’d know his tender heart.

He’d never want to hurt his fans,
or family from the start.

If you knew my father,
you would know how hard he fought…

and the way it brought a smile to people light, medium and dark.

We always fight a battle
that people never see,

and sometimes when you’re hurting, you don’t think logically.

Human isn’t perfect,
and perfect is not he,

but I can tell you one thing, it’s just not what it seems.

Cause If you knew the dad I knew,
you’d know he raised me well.

He taught me folks are so much more
than shades could ever tell.

And If you knew my father,
you would know he’s down to earth.

He may have slammed the giant,
but remembers life’s true worth.

If you knew my father,
if you just walked in his shoes…

then you would know that microscope that comes with yellow boots.

If you knew my father,
you would see your own in mine.

And if he was your father, you could never find divide.

Cause me- I bet your father
or someone that you love

Maybe regrets something
they wish they’d never done.

So if you know my father,
remember he’s a man,

and you would crave relief if people judged everything you did.

The lord says to forgive them,
don’t be the one to stone…

so please remember his strong arms when you were all alone.

The lives he’s changed, the friends he’s made,
the people he’s inspired…

It makes me sad to see my dad
defeated and so tired.

If you knew my father,
you would know just how he’s hurting…

For he loves every one of you, regardless of your story.

And if you met my father,
I know he’d give you love!

He’d lift you up, apologize and give you all a hug.

For those who think you know my father,
remember who you are.

We all can make mistakes and carry ugly scars.

Because I know my father,
I can promise this-

Just like you and I, things we don’t mean can sometimes slip.

We all continue learning.
This life can be so rough…

So if you know my father, please try not to be tough.

My father has a daughter,
and I have feelings too.

And if I knew your father, I would do the same for you.
Oh yes, it's true it's true!

WWE Hall Of Famer Roddy Piper, who is one of Hulk Hogan’s biggest career rivals, spoke with Rich Eisen about “The Hulkster’s” racism controversy on Friday.

After dancing around the question and talking about some of the racially-driven controversial moments throughout his own career, “Hot Rod” finally addressed the Hogan situation.

“With Hulkster, I don’t agree with all his choices, you know what, I don’t hear people saying all the great things he does,” said Piper. “When he was on the Wheaties’ Box, all those kids that said their prayers and took their vitamins. I don’t hear them saying that. They just want to nail this.”

Piper concluded, “I just think it is a little… I think everybody needs to get a life. I don’t think that anybody should just go to hurt your feelings for no reason.”
