^Is it weird for me to be enjoying this side 'joke' feud more than any of the 'serious' ones going on in WWE right now? :?

Wow, Roddy Piper's gone? This is completely unexpected. I heard that he and Austin were in a minor dispute, but I hadn't heard of any health issues he'd been having.

I can't believe it... My heart sank as soon as I read the news.

Two great legends passing away in such a short period of time. What a sad blow to wrestling fans around the world. Roddy Piper might very well be one of the most influential superstars of his era (if you watch/read interviews involving a lot of the wrestlers currently working in the business, many of them mention Roddy Piper as a key inspiration for joining the industry). He was arguably way ahead of his time in terms of mic work, and helped to popularise a lot of the tropes we see in use right now. He was relatively small compared to the other wrestlers around him - so in order to get himself noticed and reach new heights, Piper used the one skill in his possession few others were capable of replicating. A loud mouth and the ability to hold the audiences attention. In an era governed by large bodybuilders - Roddy Piper may not have been the most athletic person in the ring, nor the most agile; but he certainly was one of the most charismatic. A weapon that helped him become one of the most recognisable figures in the industry.

My condolences go out to his friends and family.

RIP

It's already been booked - I got a great deal on Priceline!
It was only earlier this week I was watching a video clip of when "Mr. America" debuted, and found it odd that of the four men in the ring it was only the youngest who'd passed. Certainly not the news I was expecting.

This, sadly, now makes WrestleMania 26 the earliest WrestleMania where every performer is still alive today. He's also the first of the WrestleMania I main eventers we've lost, too.

RIP Piper, the most Scottish Canadian I ever knew.

Looking for some good tribute videos but there aren't many. Tells you how good a heel he was. :)

Ric Flair issued the following statement on the passing of fellow WWE Hall Of Famer ''Rowdy'' Roddy Piper:

''We've shared the ring, travelled the world, maintained a friendship throughout the ups and downs of the wrestling world, and battled to see who was the better heel. It's almost impossible to express my grief. My condolences to his children and to his wife Kitty. I'll miss you Roddy. The world will never be as Rowdy without you.''
