Roddy looked like he was in really good shape and was holding up well. Heart Attacks are a motherfucking bitch. The suddenness of his death is the lousy part. Feel for his family and close friends. Top 5 heel of all-time!! |

Dark Waters Productions issued the following press release today to announce that the new film “The Reconciler,” will feature one of — if not the — final big screen performances by the late WWE Hall Of Famer, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper. “The Reconciler” Movie Pays Tribute to the Late WWE Legend Roddy Piper LOS ANGELES, Aug. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Dark Water Productions — “The Reconciler” will be coming out later this year without one of its most beloved co-stars to celebrate its success. Rowdy Roddy Piper, 61, unexpectedly passed away of cardiac arrest onFriday, July 31, 2015. While initially being well known for his wrestling abilities and as a WWE villain, the depth of his talent in other areas was surely being recognized in his part in “The Reconciler”. His future in acting looked very promising. Born in Canada, his home in Hollywood allowed him to expand his potential in films. One of Roddy’s final roles will be that of the detective, Russ, attempting to make some sense, if any, of all the disappearances in his town where he presents his acting skill at a new level. With a strange thread of God woven into the script, it is expected to be another success for all involved. Origin Releasing with over twenty-five years of successful experience in the DVD and Television market worldwide is working closely with Black Wolf Media in distributing this creatively done thriller. Release is set for November 2015 and will be the lasting tribute to not only an incredible wrestler, but also a superb actor, beloved husband and father. Origin Releasing and Black Wolf Media Group have a long list of successful projects and were looking forward to their continuing relationship with Roddy and the talent left still untapped. It was his rugged looks that would first catch your eye, but then his acting skills would shine through and you would find yourself captivated by his natural ability in front of the camera. It is with deep sadness any future endeavors for Roddy Piper will be remembered as “what could have been”. He will most certainly be missed in the industry that welcomed him with open arms. Origin Releasing and Black Wolf Media Group extend their deepest sympathies to Roddy’s family as the audiences look forward to seeing an indelible performance from him one more time in “The Reconciler”. CM Punk recently spoke with Ted Gruber of RedEyeChicago.com to promote his professional MMA debut, which he's hoping will take place before the end of the year. Below are some highlights from the interview: If He's Sick Of People Asking Him About Returning to WWE: ''Yes and no. It irks me a little bit because I think it's the same people that are asking it. But at the same time you have to roll with the punches because it comes with the territory. It's probably what I'm most known for, and there are fans out there that miss me in that venue. I am not one to draw in the past and I'm sailing on.'' His Reaction To Hulk Hogan's Racism Controversy: ''I don't really have a comment on it. Like I said, though, stuff that you say can come back and bite you in the ass. Everybody gets what they deserve in the world. Hopefully he issued a sincere apology and we can all move on from it. We all have said stupid things, and I don't think you should judge somebody on what they said a long time ago. But some of the stuff is harsher than other things. It is what it is.'' Daniel Bryan Supporting His MMA Career: ''I thought it was pretty cool. Everybody in WWE whether they admit it or not are big fans of the UFC. Like everything else, they are 10 years behind the curve on everything, but they are slowly warming up to MMA. Now it's all Ronda Rousey. But a couple of years ago when I mentioned her they told me the sport was despicable. Everything they are doing now is something I told them five years ago. They live in a bubble. When you are on the road this much, you are ''all in'' and nothing else matters; I lived in a bubble. They built this empire and they are the best at what they do. But they still have no [bleeping] idea what goes on outside their bubble.'' |

The last part is BS from Punk. WWE was actually ahead of the curve when MMA start Ken Shamrock wrestled in the promotion. The problem WWE needs to worry about is building up another Brock Lesnar, a guy who can successfully transition to MMA. The WWE built up his brand and the UFC capitalized on him. |

Firstly, before Shamrock went into MMA, he was trained as a professional wrestler. Second, MMA wasn't as big in the 90's as it became in the early 2000's. Back then boxing had so many big name fighters that everyone wanted to see go against each other and the only reason I think MMA and UFC became so popular wasn't just the style of fight, but the fact that boxing failed to find new stars. Also, WWE at that time was in fact right in line with the curve in bringing prize fighters into the company like when they brought Tyson in for the Austin-HBK match at WM14 or even when they did the horribly executed Brawl For All tournament that led to several guys getting legit injured, hence the beginning of WWE's resistance to MMA. Punk didn't say that WWE has always been behind the curve, he's saying the current WWE is and in that statement, he is absolutely correct. Vince and WWE have badly misjudged the popularity of women's fighting and even women's pro wrestling. Back when the Knockouts in TNA were at their peak, their segments were consistently the highest rated segs on all of TNA Impact. The issue all along with women's wrestling in WWE going back 10+ years was guys like John Laurinaitis and Micheal Hayes only wanting models and dancers because they were attractive girls for obvious reasons.

As we reported on Saturday afternoon, The National Enquirer ran a story this week regarding the possibility that WWE Hall Of Famer Hulk Hogan perjured himself in a deposition. The following is the entire relevant portion of the July 2nd hearing transcript that’s being referred to and used as evidence in the case involving Hogan (Terry Bollea.) The context one would need to know when reading the following is that Gawker attorney Seth Berlin is trying to get the F.B.I. to re-issue documents regarding their investigation into the sex-tape extortion attempt without redactions that should not have been made. “But what these documents show, and then I’ll come back and I can talk a little bit about the exemptions and the indexes, but let me tell you what our concern is, Your Honor. So in this investigation what we know is that Mr. Bollea — this is not — I’m not treading on secret ground here. What we know is that Mr. Bollea came with his lawyer, Mr. Houston, to the FBI and asked for an investigation, which they conducted. And what we know from Mr. Hardy’s last declaration is that part of this investigation yielded three DVDs that have encounters involving the three key participants in this — Mrs. Clem, Mr. Bollea, and for portions of it Mr. Clem. Each of those people has testified differently, they have all said different things about what actually happened, when it happened, how often it happened, whether — what was known. And so one of the reasons why we said we would like to get — we started by just saying look, we thought we would find, which we eventually got in yesterday’s stack, statements by Mr. Bollea and his lawyer, and to see whether what he was saying to the FBI matched what he is saying in our lawsuit. Turns out, without getting into the specifics, they don’t, that we have essentially under oath testimony to the FBI and we have under oath testimony in our case directly at odds with one another. So we have a situation — and it’s very unfortunate that this is two days or one business day before we’re supposed to start a trial on this matter, but we have a situation where the key participant, the plaintiff, is telling us one thing under oath and telling the FBI something else. So this is why we’re asking — and you can’t use that document to impeach a person if there is a bunch of blanks in it that somebody is saying well, that’s private even though it’s already public.” Source: http://www.sescoops.com/update-hulk-hogan-looking-at-possible-jail-time-for-telling-lies-under-oath/ So basically Hulk Hogan might be looking at some jail time. The guy has really been dragged through the mud lately and things don't seem to be looking up for him any time soon.

WWE Hall Of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin was joined by UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier on his latest “Steve Austin Show” podcast, and during the show, Austin and D.C. addressed the recent controversy surrounding Dana White and his recent Twitter war with pro wrestling fans regarding his use of the “F” word (fake), when referring to the sports entertainment business. On the Steve Austin Show — Unleashed! podcast, the UFC President was brought up during the interview and in particular his comments last weekend regarding WWE being “fake,” a remark White made when a fan complained about the price of a UFC pay-per-view compared to a subscription to the WWE Network “over-the-top” digital service, which includes all WWE pay-per-view offerings for only $9.99 per month. Despite the fact that he still has a working relationship with WWE to this day under a “WWE Legends” contract, including an additional deal that calls for a semi-regularly scheduled program on the aforementioned WWE Network service, Steve Austin defended the comments made by White, as opposed to “towing the company line.” “I know Dana [White] is from the world of boxing and MMA, but I know he respects the world of professional wrestling,” Austin said during the show. “I thought that was his way of saying, ‘It’s a work’ [predetermined form of athletic entertainment] because there’s a difference.” Austin elaborated, pointing out the differences in MMA and pro wrestling, and pointing out that fans should both understand the difference in the price point, as well as understand what White meant when he made the comments that resulted in him taking a ton of heat from die-hard pro wrestling fans on social media. “Is it fake? It’s predetermined,” said Austin. “It’s a work! So I don’t think [White] meant any disrespect to the business because I’ll say this, Daniel [Cormier]: I’ll take you, I’ll take Jon Jones, I’ll take the heavyweight champion of the world, I’ll take the bantamweight champion of the world, I’ll take any of you guys who want to go on the road for two years and be on the road for 250 days and go through that grind and you’ll never say ‘fake’, but what you will say, ‘It’s tough as hell!’ He continued: “Fake, Dana? Not so much. A work? Yes, and I’m not saying that to put Dana on blast because I love him, I love the UFC, and he has always treated me well and always got me tickets when I got to see you fight in [Las] Vegas, so he’s always taken care of me but I think he does respect the business, and, hell, one of his biggest draws [Brock Lesnar] came from the world of pro wrestling.” Source: http://www.mmanews.com/wwe-legend-stone-cold-steve-austin-defends-dana-whites-fake-pro-wrestling-comments/ |

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross recently updated his official blog section with his latest thoughts and opinions on a number of subjects. Below are some of the highlights from the interview. On the Diva Revolution: “Happy to see the WWE Divas get three segments of TV time on Smackdown Thursday night. They all maximized their minutes and while Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks get plenty of pub, and well deserved I might add, don’t sleep on the others ladies especially Naomi who is a gifted athlete and has been a standout since I saw her first start in FCW in Tampa. If these women continue to work as hard to get better at their jobs as they did to get to the main roster then they will continue to earn more TV time, more money and contribute to the overall success of the talent roster which should be every talent’s goal no matter the company.” On returning to WWE as an announcer: “Did a short interview with Bleacher Report and got asked the same question that I generally get daily on Twitter and that is if I’d ever consider going back to announcing for WWE. First of all, no talks of that nature have taken place, I am not interested in going back on the road 51 weeks a year and WWE is looking to get younger in all areas and not older. Would I like to broadcast a match at a Wrestlemania? Of course…who wouldn’t? That’s the extent of my thoughts on that matter. I had a great, 21 year run in WWE for which I’m grateful but we’ve both moved on. However, if any one in the biz can honestly look you in the eye and say that being a part of a Wrestlemania presentation wouldn’t be fun then I question their level of honesty. I assume some may feel that way but the vast majority would say yes. That;s the entire story and I’m happy doing what I’m doing and that is being able to work my own schedule and do projects that I enjoy without extensive travel.” On Lucha Underground season finale: “Really enjoyed Lucha Underground Wednesday night and thought their season finale was excellent. I’m intrigued by a weekly pro wrestling show having a ‘season.’ The matches were overall strong, emotional and at times graphically old school. The Vampiro match was simplistic but highly effective and compelling. I’m still not a fan of the intergender content but LU handles it about as well as one can. Thought Alberto El Patron v. Johnny Mundo with the Melina cameo was a great start to the two hour show as well. As are most fans, I’m anxious to see if this group has a season two. Fingers crossed for them.” Source: http://www.sescoops.com/jim-ross-blog-jr-returning-to-wwe-as-an-announcer-diva-revolution-more/ |

Cena’s nose seeks advice from Foley’s ear.![]() Feeling ugly and depressed after being shattered by Seth Rollins’ knee, John Cena’s disfigured nose sought advice and solace today from Mick Foley’s disembodied ear. Cena’s nose, a mangled hodgepodge of cartilage and snot, tracked down the ear in Germany, where it has been roaming the countryside ever since getting separated from its master in 1994. Cena’s pulverized proboscis has been feeling “shattered, emotionally and physically” since being assaulted several weeks ago, and has struggled to continue upholding its own mantra, “Never Give Up.” It sought Foley’s ear (and one of Foley’s teeth, which escaped through Foley’s nostril in 1998) to seek advice on how to continue living as a monstrous facial disfigurement. “Hang in there, kiddo,” encouraged Foley’s ear. “Hey, at least you’re still attached to a face, right? Bang bang!” The ear then wished Cena’s nose a nice day, and wandered off in search of Shawn Michaels’ missing smile. Cena’s nose, feeling better, then meandered into a field of ragweed and sneezed allergically, kicking out “atchoo.” |

MMA has gotten big because boxing got too greedy. The exorbitant ppv prices turned away the casual boxing fans. That's one of the many reasons why there are no new boxing stars. I could talk about the lackluster heavyweight division and the excessive weight classes but I'll leave those discussions alone. And I'll say Ken Shamrock was definitely the early star of MMA and of UFC. And he was critical to the sport's survival and subsequent growth when he returned to the sport after making a bigger name for himself in the WWE. And if there were many people like in the late 90s/early 2000s and saw the UFC videos intermixed with the wrestling videotapes, you'd notice Shamrock on many of the covers. So I'm going to assume many current wrestlers are definitely aware of that connection to MMA and the world or wrestling. It's not just using boxing stars but celebrities in general are used to grab the public's attention. The WWE has always excelled in this area under VKM's leadership so that's normal behavior for the company. Their should be resistance to boxing and MMA in terms of pretending to be something you aren't but the WWE should never be reluctant to use the stars of those sports for a WWE event. Lastly, if that quote attributed to Punk is correct, he explicitly said they were years behind the curve on everything. I agree with his thoughts on women's fighting and women's wrestling. The Divas' division went the wrong direction under that misogynistic leadership and let's see if these women can direct women's wrestling to a level beyond what Trish and Lita achieved. Punk should have said the WWE is behind the curve on most things... if they were behind the curve on everything, Punk would have never been WWE Champion. |
