Watching KotR 2000 (apparently it doesn't want to work on Windows 8, but 7 is fine) and I know we all want a return to the attitude era, but I'm not sure that will fix WWE. I'm not sure if it was the Attitude Era that made WWE great or if it was just the guys that were in the Attitude Era that made it great. If I look for Stone Cold, I can only find him in Brock Lesnar, problem is Lensar works about a third of what Austin did and he's not a strong promo guy. If I look for a Kurt Angle on the roster today, the closest comparison is Cesaro. Do I think Cesaro could be as good as Angle? Yes, I do, but Vince seemingly hates the man. If I look for a Rock on today's roster, I have trouble finding him. John Cena had the charisma, but he's so far past that and we've seen so much of him I don't think he could get back over with the crowd like Rock did. If it's not Cena, who else could it be? I can't think of a worse time in WWE's history where the promos are as bad as they are now. How about Triple H? Everybody's looking at Rollins as Lil' Hatich and he is good, but I think Ambrose would work better as the corporate heel. What about an Undertaker? Look, bottom line is Bray Wyatt is not the Undertaker. He talks too much and his character is too complex. This latest feud with him and Reigns is actually good because it all started with him holding up a picture of Reigns daughter. Of course, this makes him look less creepy and more like a pedophile, but whatever it's a better feud than him going back and forth with Undertaker's disembodied voice for 6 weeks. Undertaker talked little and was simple. Hell, Taker's shit was barely explained as they always attributed his "power" to a fucking urn. Wyatt cuts nonsensical promos of a style that would have fit Ultimate Warrior better. Undertaker, well, during his Phenom gimmick was a one liner at best, but during his Bad Ass gimmick was really pretty good. I think what the Wyatt character needs to do is evolve out of this cartoony character and become something more like Biker Taker. Replace the Hawaiian shirts, khakis, and straw hat with jeans, leather vests, and a bandanna and he looks exactly like a member of the Hell's Angles along with Harper and Strauman. Shit, that's exactly what you could call them, the Hell's Angels. |
