In random news. Brad Maddox was release today.

*crickets*
... Brad Maddox was still employed? :aries:
Hornswoggle is too, but he's suspended.

Still employed are David Otunga, Los Matadores, Adam Rose, and Rosa Mendes.

Quote:

PWInsider reports that Maddox was released due to language he used on the microphone before a dark match at this week’s SmackDown tapings. Prior to his dark match against R-Truth, he used the phrase “cocky pr*cks” in a promo.

WWE officials were so upset with the language, they issued Maddox his release from the company the day before Thanksgiving.

Maddox hadn’t been regularly used on WWE TV since he was fired as the on-air GM in 2014. He had been working house shows and dark matches prior to his release, and recently took part in The Undertaker’s skit on The Tonight Show.

Is it just me, or does WWE tend to spend way too much time focusing on trivial nonsense such as this?

Instead of, you know, developing talent and keeping people invested in their work.

It's worse than that, there are guys still in that company that are obviously not worth the effort to try and develop, but WWE doesn't outright fire people like they use to. Instead, they wait for something to be said or done on social media by their employees and then fires them. My best guess is there were forces in WWE that wanted Maddox gone to make room for somebody else or to cut costs.

Either way, it was a stupid thing that the PC police in WWE again have blown out of proportion, similar to firing Hogan, Seth's girlfriend, and the kerfuffle of that ADR tweet last week.

This company... is just no fucking fun.

Its business, yo. They are a public company so they have shareholders and investors, and if those people don't like someone using the words "cocky pricks" and they threaten to take their money and run, well WWE is gonna do whatever it is to keep those people happy. WWE is more likely to please their shareholders first before the rest of us.

^ Which is exactly why this company is no fun and their ratings are going down.

I guess part of it is that he said those words on a taped program. Maybe it'd be a LITTLE different if it was live. Still an over-reaction, mind you, but still. But since it was taped, why not just edit the comment out and instruct him not to make such comments moving forward?

It was a dark match, it wasn't going to be on air anyway.

Well then even more reason why it's an over-reaction.

I'll just point everybody to the local titty bar. Nobody has a frown when buzzed and titties are around.

So, I already mentioned how the wonders of cable and a DVR have allowed me to discover New Japan has a tv show. It has also allowed me to find and record ROH's syndicated TV. While I am still a long way from being the Indy hipster I was a few years ago, these have been providing my wrestling entertainment. Two things from my recent watching:

It has been a pretty long time since I have been an ROH guy and clearly the company has gone through a lot of changes (it certainly has had a lot of production upgrades). Gone are most of the talents that drew me to ROH to in the first place and I have yet to see much that thrills me from the current lot. But leave it two of the usual suspects to remind me of the wrestling that made ROH so great as Roderick Strong and Jay Lethal had a main event match worthy of the term main event.

Meanwhile on New Japan, my new favorite thing ever: Tanahashi on AJ Styles: he talks about wrestling AJ in TNA years and mentions, "He didn't have the sexiness he has now." So true, so true.
