I've heard Rock isn't cleared to wrestle for insurance reasons.

Cesaro- injured

Orton- injured. He may be gone until SummerSlam.

Sting- injured

2 Divas matches?

Nice looking card, but it's not realistic considering everything that's going with injuries. Besides, where's Daniel Bryan?

That match lineup is silly and unrealistic. Mid-card titles don't get matches at Wrestlemania.

The following is from pro wrestling writer and podcaster Jason Solomon's most recent podcast where he shared his thoughts on the current state of WWE and their apparent disconnection between themselves and the fans:

Quote:

It all boils down to this: Are you giving the fans what they want? Are you giving them an entertaining show? If the answer is no, which the ratings would seem to indicate, what can we be doing differently? They don't really seem to care. As long as they're still making money, they don't care.

And that's the message I want people to understand here: they're in business. I understand that: you're in business to make money, but don't lie and pretend that you care, don't send me a fan council survey every month asking my opinion on which matches I want to see and which superstars I'd like to see more often when I've been taking these things for six months now and absolutely nothing is any different.

In fact, the only questions I've ever answered in those surveys that seemed like they were genuinely looking for feedback were about fucking Rolaids and Pepto Bismol. It was about which sponsors you'd like to see and which products you'd be most likely to buy. That's all they care about! Remember when I joked about the Tums and the Rolaids stuff a few months ago when I was first taking these surveys? Lo and behold we now have tons and tons of Rolaid commercials! After you watch Survivor Series and it gives you the runs, take some Tums for upset stomach or take some Pepto Bismol to plug up your hole. They ought to get Lunesta or Ambian to sponser these shows because they're putting people to sleep. Maybe they could stay awake if you told your viewers to take one of those?

They have their contract with USA Network. USA is not cancelling Raw, I've gotten a lot of questions about that recently. "How far down do the numbers have to go?" It's not gonna go down far enough to make that much of a difference. As long as Raw does numbers higher than their other shows, USA needs wrestling to stay in the top ten cable rankings every week. Without Raw they probably drop off the list and that's very important to them. They want to stay competitive with ESPN and other networks. Raw isn't going anywhere.

Even if that third hour is killing the show, and it's not the only thing, but it's one of the big things that is killing the show, it doesn't matter because they make a boatload of money off that third hour. And by God, they want their money. They also want your money... and they don't want you to tell them how to get it because they already know how to get it; they think they're smarter than you are. They know everything and you know nothing. They don't care about your tweets when you tweet about how pissed off you are, they trend, which they like.

"Hey, we're trending!"

Non-wrestling fans don't know why they're trending, they just see that WWE is trending, Raw is trending. So that won't work.

They want your money, they want you to buy the Network, which you will because all the shit that you actually want to see is actually on the Network. They just added a new section of old Saturday night shows from TBS back in the 80's. Table for 3? Great stuff. NXT? Great stuff. "Hey, watch the Monday Night Wars back when we actually tried." All that stuff is on the Network, so they have your $9.99. They haven't quite figured out how to convert all those 3 million people watching Raw to buy the Network. If they had 3 million subscribers, they'd be on easy street. They haven't quite figured that out yet, but they're working on it. They want you to buy T-shirts, lots and lots of T-shirts, which, if you have a favorite wrestler, you want to buy them because you want to support them. "What kind of monster are you if you don't want to support your favorite wrestler? They have to feed their family, don't they?"

Yes, but that's also feeding WWE's fat face. So what do you do? Do you not support Kevin Owens and buy one of his 857 new shirts? The new Owen Hart DVD, it's due next week. It's Owen Hart! Who doesn't love Owen Hart? You'll buy the DVD and who gets the money? What do you think, it's going to charity? Yes... it's called the Church of McMahon. That's where the money is going.

Same thing with the new NXT DVD they're releasing soon. We just found out that they're putting a dark match on there with CM Punk and Seth Rollins vs Antonio Cesaro and Kassius Ohno. The Kings of Wrestling reunited. That's pretty cool right? I mean, that's every indie wrestling fans fucking wet dream. "I've gotta buy that DVD!" Well, that's even more money in WWE's pockets.

That's all they care about.

Road Dogg has been tweeting people all week, I don't even know why he bothers. He's been tweeting people all week defending the product and I respect Road Dogg, but he's not going to speak out of turn because he knows who his master is. He's gonna be a good little soldier. I don't even know why people are getting on his case. What do you expect him to say? I thought he summed up their attitude perfectly in that company, and I don't know if he intended to do this, but he summed up their attitude perfectly in this one tweet. He said:

"The company has never been more profitable, business is booming."

Now, I don't know if I would have used the word "booming" but it's true: they make more money now than they ever did before. The company is as big now, bigger than they've ever been before. They have so many things to sell now than they did back when their product was actually on fire. They can get away with it, but it's that attitude of "we're still making money hand over fist. Everything's just peachy and you don't know what you're talking about. You're all so negative. Why can't you just be happy?"

It's like paying a prostitute to give you Blue Balls. I've never paid for a prostitute before, nor would I. You know, Charlie Sheen's probably infected them all anyway. But the thought of paying one for sex only for them to tease you and not deliver a payoff... you'd be pretty upset, wouldn't you? I know I would. Now, imagine going back to that same prostitute the very next week and paying for the same thing all over again and then being upset about it.

It is the definition of insanity: doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome. We're all guilty of it, I'm guilty of it. It's because we're all fucking insane. I see a lot of people threatening to cancel their network subscriptions. They threaten and they threaten and they threaten and very few ever do. That's not going to solve anything. I'd rather they stage a coup in WWE and overthrow the old man or make him chairman in meritis and bring in some new blood and some new ideas.

When the product gets really rough like this, I think back and remind myself of things like the SHIELD vs the Wyatt Family as proof they can still get it right when they want to or the Rhodes Brothers against the SHIELD at Battleground. These are things that have happened in the last 2-3 years. Not that long ago, but nothing is going to change.

I saw Rob Nailer went on a twitter tirade. He use to be a creative assistant to Dusty Rhodes down in NXT. Very well liked and then WWE let him go. He made a lot of great points about what's wrong with the product. Mick Foley, God bless Mick Foley he's been on again off again with WWE for so many years. I guess he's probably off again after that blog he posted on his facebook page, I guess we won't be seeing Santa Foley on TV this year. Foley says he's, "This close to becoming an ex-WWE fan." That's how disgusted he is with how certain guys are treated on the main roster. He's tired of seeing guys that he has rooted for never get past a certain level no matter how strongly the crowd reacts to them. He's tired of NXT stars getting their supposed big break on the roster only to be treated "like a joke". Foley said he and his son traveled 12 hours to Orlando to watch Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch wrestle at Takeover in one of the greatest women's matches he's ever seen only for them to get 4 minutes on Raw last Monday.

These are people, Rob Nailer, Mick Foley, whoever that have been on the inside. They know how it goes and they're seeing the exact same things that the fans are but it doesn't matter. They couldn't change things when they were there and they're not going to change things from their couch at home. Until there's some kind of change at the very top, we're not going to see any change either, we're not going to be able to do anything. Doesn't mean we can't vent, but let's not delude ourselves into thinking that any of this is going to make any difference at all because it won't.

FINAL RAW FOR FOLEY?

WWE is at a real crossroads. Allow me to paraphrase Albert Einstein, who said "the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results". Wrestling historians can argue about when the ‪#‎AttitudeEra‬ in wrestling officially began. But for me, it will always be at a meeting called by Mr McMahon in the Spring of 1997, where he admitted that what had worked for them for so long in the past (I interpreted that to mean one-dimensional characters that tended to be job-related) was no longer working, and that if they were going to survive, the wrestlers themselves were going to have to step up, and help create those dimensions that would establish the emotional bond between the wrestlers and the fans - part of the lifeblood of professional wrestling.

Today's WWE Superstars (I'm including the women here, since the term "Diva" had its time, and that time is done) are at a distinct disadvantage in some ways. They can't flip birds, and use the colorful language. They can't bleed - even when the situation seems ripe for it. Man, Roman Reigns life would be so much easier if he could survive vicious assaults - and be left bloodied, but unbowed - the way guys in my era did. But all the blood, the language and the violence paled in comparison to the real secret weapon of the Attitude Era; FREEDOM! The freedom to CREATE..the freedom to TRY... the freedom to FAIL - the idea that going down swinging (I hope I'm not losing you guys in all the non-baseball playing countries) was almost as important as hitting the ball out of the park - as long as you took your best swings. There's a difference between playing to win, and playing not to lose: one breeds confidence, the other breeds fear. It's the difference between cutting the type of promos Stone Cold Steve Austin and Dwayne The Rock Johnson gave, and the cookie-cutter approach all too often employed these days by WWE creative. One style allowed for creativity and emotion. The other calls for memorization and recitation.

I hope I don't sound like I'm picking on WWE. There is a big part of me that loves this company, and always will. Why else would I be up at 4:15 am, writing things that are likely to banish me deeper and deeper into the WWE doghouse? One of my favorite wrestlers proposed a storyline that would allow me a four of five week storyline that would allow me to dig in deep, and swing for the fences - and in the process, maybe advance a few of the super-talented but underutilized athletes on the roster. I would love to do it....but I doubt it's going to happen. After all, I might want to do something crazy like go out there without a script, and try to create some real emotion - in other words, the type of thing that saved WWE in the late 90's.

The talent pool has never been deeper. But the creative flow is stagnant...and it's been stinking for a while. I quoted Einstein to begin this thing. Let me conclude with the immortal words of Owen Heart: "Enough's enough: it's time for a change!"

‪#‎SockTuesday‬ - the WORLDWIDE ‪#‎Socktacular‬ begins at the conclusion of WWE Raw and runs for 25 hours at http://topropetuesday.com Go ahead, get that hand-crafted (yes, I draw them all) signed sock for only $19.99, plus shipping...in plenty of time for Christmas.

What changes would YOU like to see tonight on RAW, and in WWE in general?

Why? Nothing has to change, they're still making money. What's going to happen to WWE if they don't change anything? People are just going to stop spending money on the Network? I'm not giving up the Network, I like NXT too much to do that.
