WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart recently spoke with The Portsmouth News to promote his one-man shows taking place this weekend in the Untied Kingdom. Below are some highlights of what he talked about: His Battle With Prostate Cancer: “It’s never an easy thing to go through, but I had a lot of support and a lot of great fans and other wrestlers who reached out, that all sort of helped me get through it. I’ve got to have regular check-ups for the next few years, but I think I’m through the worst now. They think they got it all in one shot, so I’m just on to a slow recovery and hopefully in the next few months I’ll be back to normal and getting my life back on track. I was lucky I had one of those cancers that they say if you get it early and you’re on it quick you can have a full recovery. It’s a 96 per cent recovery rate for prostate cancer. My diagnosis was early and I did a lot to make sure I was on top of it.” Today’s Wrestling vs. His Generation: “I think that the wrestlers today are very skilled and a lot of them are really great, gifted wrestlers, like Daniel Bryan, CM Punk and even Kevin Owens. I tip my hat to them. I enjoy watching them, they’re special talents and they carry that torch to the next generation. There’s a lot of those wrestlers who’ve had a big impact since I left. I’d like to have worked with CM Punk or Brock Lesnar, but I find that there’s something missing in wrestling that was more prevalent in my era. I think the actual storytelling was better.” Bret added that he tried to tell a story in his matches without rushing things. He finds today’s wrestling to be too fast paced, with the performers being too busy setting up their next spots. He thinks it comes off as very rehearsed compared to previous decades. I've been watching some of the Attitude Era volume 2 DVD and there's a match from Raw that has Shane Mcmahon and Jim Cornette on commentary. I had totally forgotten Shane did commentary, but he was pretty good at it. |

I totally forgot that, but I do have the faintest of memories of Shane on commentary for Heat. I don't remember any of it cuz I was 8 years old at the time, but I do recall him being on Heat. Shane's been a versatile talent for WWE and yeah, his dad's the owner, but Shane you can put in any position and he fits. Be it a referee, a wrestler, a manager, a commentator, an authority figure, creative... he seems to just be able to fit wherever more so than Stephanie. |

As noted over the last week, The Undertaker was pulled from WWE’s entire European tour twice without explanation. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the reason told to the WWE roster is The Undertaker opted out of the tour due to the news of terrorism activities in France and Belgium. The Undertaker also has documented back problems and long flights can be rough. As previously noted, he was telling people backstage at WrestleMania 32 that it would be his last match. He was spotted by fans out and about in Dallas this week, where he has a home. WWE made it up to the European fans by booking Triple H vs. Dean Ambrose on the shows ‘Taker was pulled from. During a recent media interview in Spain, Alberto Del Rio revealed that the League of Nations faction will likely be disbanding soon. Del Rio said the group was put together for WrestleMania season as a result of so many injuries plaguging the roster. After kicking Wade Barrett out of the group, the League set their sights on The Wyatt Family. However, with Bray Wyatt being injured on the European Tour, Del Rio said the League no longer has a purpose. “We as a group have never worked very well, so we decided that it is better to separate,” Del Rio told SoloWrestling.com. “I think Bray Wyatt is hurt, and all this will come to nothing.” Del Rio said he plans to focus on singles feuds soon and wants to work his way back into the WWE World Heavyweight title picture. He also noted that WWE is considering a full length tour of Spain. WWE’s European tour ended in Malaga, Spain and was seen as an ‘experiment’ to gauge how the company could draw in bigger cities like Madrid and Barcelona. Members of WWE management reportedly were shocked when they heard news that Adam Rose had publicly addressed his wellness policy violation. Rose was suspended for 60 days for using what he claims were prescribed medications, and said his doctor was “shocked and appalled” by the suspension. According to PWInsider.com, WWE officials did not know Rose was going to address the suspension on Twitter, and found out when everyone else did after he posted it online. PWInsider reports that Rose gained some respect within some circles in the company for explaining his position. Rose reportedly has a good reputation with his co-workers and seems to have some support from them. Konnor was also suspended by the company for a wellness policy violation, although he didn’t test positive for anything illegal either. Source: http://www.sescoops.com/142655-2/ |

Bret Hart continues to have very few nice things to say about Triple H. In an interview with Notts TV News, the WWE Hall of Famer criticized Triple H for his desire to push performers based on their physiques. Hart does give credit to his NXT brand for having better wrestling than WrestleMania 32, which Hart says had “no great wrestling” on it. Hart also takes jabs at Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior while discussing The Game. “I’m always happy to be proven wrong, but I’ve never seen any real genius come from Triple H yet,” Hart said. “I sound like I’m always knocking him, but it seems like he’s quick to push the great wrestling to the side and push the bodies, guys who have [good] physiques, all the time. They wonder why CM Punk quit and they wonder why Daniel Bryan got hurt. It’s because they squeeze so much out of those guys. I’m just calling it the way it is. Triple H is a former bodybuilder. He’s all about bodies. He thought that Hulk Hogan was the greatest wrestler in the world. They think Ultimate Warrior was the greatest wrestler in the world because that’s what they’re attracted to, but he’s not really a wrestling fan like I grew up.” Hart credits Sami Zayn, Shinsuke Nakamura, Asuka and Bayley for putting on a better show at Takeover: Dallas than anything he saw at WrestleMania 32. The Hitman objects with WWE putting part-time wrestlers at the top of the card at ‘Mania, and feels those positions should go to talent that works year-round. “As much of a great job Undertaker did to carry him, to me, from a storyline standpoint, Vince McMahon’s son got the main event spot,” Hart said of Shane McMahon’s Hell In A Cell match against The Undertaker. “Triple H got the 1,000th time world champion spot. He’s making the top money. Brock Lesnar is making top money. They’re working twice a year, three times a year, five times a year,” Hart said. “You look at Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens and Natalya, people who are slogging it out day in, day out, week in, week out, in every part of the world, travelling every day, and they’re all in the opening matches, the pre-card. There’s something wrong with the logic of that. […] All these guys are doing the work all year round and they give the money spots to these guys who are part-timers. It’s just not right.” Source: http://www.sescoops.com/142700-2/ |

Apparently, Rich Brennan is no longer working for WWE. The former NXT and SmackDown announcer was let go this week after the company decided not to renew his contract, at least according to Pro Wrestling Sheet anyway. |
