During this week’s NXT media conference call, Triple H noted that he wasn’t sure how the upcoming WWE draft would affect the NXT roster. However, Dave Meltzer noted in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that NXT will be raided “big time” and there’s expected to be a mass migration of talent headed to the main roster.

WWE has been aggressively scouting talent from around the world to replenish the NXT roster after the draft. As noted earlier this week, Tommy End is said to be NXT bound, pending the usual round of medical testing. With WWE bringing in a ton of new faces for the Global Cruiserweight Series, you can bet many of the standout competitors getting WWE exposure for the first time will be signed.

Am I the only one who absolutely abhors the thought of Vince McMahon getting his grubby paws on Samoa Joe, Finn Balor, Bayley, Asuka, American Alpha, and Shinsuke Nakamura all in the span of a few weeks? Balor and Bayley are a lock to be in WWE by the end of the Summer, but the rest are the core of NXT. Taking them away guts NXT in such a way, I really don't want to bother watching NXT after they're gone.

I have a feeling Joe won't be called up anytime soon. I'm not sure if Bayley will either. Bayley may not if they don't split the division. If the Women's division is split, then she will be sent up for sure

Either way, having Vince have input on any NXT superstar has not been good outside of maybe KO. We're not counting The Shield bc they were not a part of the NXT we all are so high on. The NXT we like so much started when Neville became champ, maybe a little before.

I'd say that's the right time - the NXT Takeover where Neville became champ was the first live show on the WWE Network.

Joe has been in NXT for almost a year now. I expect he'll drop the belt to Nakamura at the Takeover:Brooklyn in August. Bayley will also lose her rematch to Asuka at that same show and one or both will debut the next night at SummerSlam or the Raw after SS. Add Balor to that mix too, there's no reason for him to be in NXT anymore now that he lost to Joe again.

I expect Balor to be the 7th guy in the MITB match next week.

American Alpha... they're clearly ready to hit WWE, but the loss of them, Bayley, Balor, and Joe at the same time is a huge blow to the NXT brand. Yeah, you can replace them with other people, but Carmella isn't Bayley and Gargano isn't Balor. If NXT loses a lot of these people to WWE, I'll have little reason to watch NXT if any. At that point, if I have no interest in NXT, I'll stop watching it and cancel the Network and watch the ppv's off a shitty stream. About the only remaining draw for me would be Asuka, but I expect her to drop the belt to Eva Marie at Takeover.

Seth Rollins has brought back a move that was banned by WWE management over a decade ago for it's dangerous nature. Rollins, who has been criticized by Bret Hart for being unsafe in the ring, performed the Vertebreaker on AJ Styles during a WWE live event.

Rollins, whose Curb Stomp finish was recently banned by WWE, added the Vertebreaker to his arsenal against Styles at the un-televised event in Jackson, MS. WWE cameras weren't rolling, but a fan's camera was and they uploaded a clip of the move to Instagram.

Eric Escobar says he had some interesting encounters with Sheamus back in their developmental days. The former FCW Heavyweight Champion and SmackDown star was on the Pancakes & Powerslams Show, and was asked about the rumors of Sheamus being difficult to deal with in the ring.

“He always wanted to be the dominant big guy. If I stand next to you, we’re basically the same size, so there’s no big guy/little guy situation going on here. When he got in the mindset that he was big guy and I was little guy, he got a little bit more hesitant about a few things in the match,” Escobar said of Sheamus in FCW.

Escobar revealed that several other wrestlers had approached him and said Sheamus was being too stiff with them, and would approach Escobar for guidance on the situation due to his tenure in FCW. He said some newer wrestlers were afraid to stiff Sheamus back because they didn’t want to ruffle any feathers. Escobar recalled a match where he felt Sheamus was too stiff with him, so he says he simply hit him back and that the Irish superstar seemed to get the point.

“I always give the guys a ‘three strike rule.’ So he pops me one, and I go, okay – one. He pops me twice – two. He pops he three times – okay, my turn,” said Escobar. “So, after I popped him back, I left my [hand print] stamped on his back for like a week. I think after that, we had no more problems. He wasn’t stiff or anything.”

Matt Hardy rejected as new Wyatt Family member for being “too weird”.

Posted Image

Plans to introduce professional wrestler Matt Hardy as the latest addition to WWE’s Wyatt Family have reportedly been nixed after Bray Wyatt deemed him “a bit too odd for our tastes.”

Rumors of Hardy’s return to WWE have been swirling ever since his latest cinematic masterpiece became a viral sensation and generated immediate Oscar buzz.

Although backstage rumors indicated Hardy would join the hillbilly cult led by the messianic Wyatt, it was decided Hardy is too peculiar to mesh with people who wear sheep masks, as well as using old-timey lanterns.

Hardy was once relatively normal — especially compared to his brother Jeff, best known as platinum-selling recording artist PeRoxWHO?GE!nWhEre — but seems to have recently lost his mind, whilst also developing an accent that can only be described as Nefarious British Redneck.

Asked by reporters if he still hopes to get back into WWE, Hardy responded cryptically: “Brother Neeeeroooo, it’s ovahhh!”

I don't think NXT will lose it's charm with the hardcore fans. Lots of new talent is going to be coming in soon. I'm not a fan of either TNA former star, but maybe they can change my opinion over time. I feel confident Andrade is going to become a big favorite in NXT and with the likes of Ibushi, Cedric Alexander and a few others likely, NXT will be ok. Nakamura v Ibushi would tear the house down at an NXT event.

I agree. It may lose some of its top stars that are currently there, but that doesn't mean more new guys (known and unknown) can't step up and join in and keep the quality. Look at when NXT first started and it was virtually all unknown guys. The focus has always been on in the ring product and making new stars, and while the guys who are essentially veterans may get called up it provides the opportunity for new stars to be made.
