Stone Cold Steve Austin says he has no plans to make an in-ring return like Goldberg did last year. On the latest edition of the Steve Austin Show podcast, Austin answered a question from a fan about having one more match. Austin, currently 52, didn’t use the word “retired” but did indicate that his in-ring days are definitely behind him. Austin said he still loves wrestling, but that he’s enjoying his post-wrestling life.

Stone Cold noted on the podcast that he’s happy with his decision to “ride off into the sunset” after his 2003 WrestleMania match against The Rock. The WWE Hall of Famer added that he’s satisfied enough with his career that he doesn’t want to take on the pressure of a comeback match, and that’s the bottom line.

While Goldberg’s return against Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series did generate positive buzz for WWE, Austin indicated that he feels the spotlight should be on the younger generation of the wrestling business.

Jim Ross says when he first signed The Rock he knew he could be a very special pro wrestler, but had no idea he was going to be the “biggest movie star in the world.” In a recent interview with The Sun (UK), the former WWE announcer and Head of Talent Relations recalled The Rock’s legendary feud with Stone Cold Steve Austin. J.R. cited some of his career highlights as calling Steamboat vs. Flair and Undertaker vs. Michaels matches, but says the Rock vs. Austin feud stands out.

“There were a lot of great [feuds], but If I had to pick out a series or a rivalry I’d pick out The Rock and Austin because of what they meant to WWE at the time, and the business in general and where their lives have taken them since,” Ross said. “They established that great fanbase in WWE, and certainly in Rock’s case, he’s been able to parlay that into an amazing career.”

“I’ve been so blessed to call great matches in the ‘70s and ‘80s, but the matches that were the most significant were the three main events that Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock had at WrestleMania – 15, 17 and 19,” Ross concluded. “Although those three matches were excellent, what they meant to the business and what they meant to the talents were really special.”

It's already been booked - I got a great deal on Priceline!
Here's one I missed last week: Kevin Owens' run as Universal Champion has been longer than all three of Roman Reigns' WWE Championship runs put together.

The current plan for WrestleMania 33 has Bayley winning the RAW Women’s Championship from Charlotte, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. The build for the big title change is supposed to mirror Daniel Bryan’s storyline for WrestleMania 33. Stephanie McMahon ran Bayley down on last night’s RAW, and is expected to feud with Bayley more as we get closer to WrestleMania.

As reported earlier, Bayley defeated Nia Jax last night on RAW to become the new #1 contender. She will get her first championship shot at the 1/29 Royal Rumble PPV, but she isn’t expected to win there.

Back then fans gave a shit about the wrestlers, it's called being over. WWE, with the way they sell wrestlers to the audience, the bland storylines, the bi polar booking, the part timers, the start and stop pushes, the 50-50 booking, etc. makes it hard to care. Now, I care about Goldberg because this is his last run in pro wrestling, it's his retirement tour and so far it's firing on all cylinders. Some may not like his role, but you gotta deal with it.

But, I can't blame WWE for everything because no matter who WWE pushes to the top these days, they don't feel larger than life like Savage, Hogan, Austin, Undertaker, HBK, Flair, and others did. If you want my opinion, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens are great wrestlers, but to me they come off as nerds that couldn't throw down in a real fight.

I agree that this is an issue that has plagued WWE for far too long now, but I don't think it's safe to say that it doesn't matter who they push, but rather, what they do with them when they push them. Because, after all, how is a guy like Rollins or now Owens supposed to come across as larger than life when the second they get the title, they become the biggest chicken shit pussy on the entire roster? How is that supposed to translate into a character who we can take seriously in this business? Or now with Zayn, too, when he's treated like a joke who can't hang with the tough crowd, of course he doesn't come across as larger than life.

But then you look at a guy like AJ Styles over on Smackdown, and you can see that it is still possible to have that larger than life feel, and it all comes to how a guy is pushed. And while sure, there's been some hiccups here or there, Styles has largely been utilized in a way where we can really take him seriously as a top guy in his position. He looks like the real deal, and so, even if he's arguably not "larger than life" just yet, if they continue down the path they've already been going with him, then yeah, he can definitely attain that level of status, too.

It's all in how guys are handled. If after Owens got the title he had become the big tough guy using his size to mow people down, the "prize fighter" that they had initially presented him as, then I don't see why he couldn't look larger than life as well. Dude has a look that honestly can translate to a legit bad ass who can just kick anyone's ass and who's gonna stop him because look at this mother fucker! But instead, they turn him into a comedy act, which is entertaining, sure, but doesn't exactly portray him as a "superstar" who we can take seriously, and is especially not helped when he hasn't won a match without some sort of cheating or interference since he won the damn belt.

WWE with their current roster has loads of potential mega-stars on their hands, just like I had mentioned about Roman Reigns in the end of year awards thread. However, due to their inability to properly utilize their roster, almost every single one of them will never actually see that potential come to light, because WWE is more interested in making everyone look like a god damn fool for some bizarre fucking reason.

With how WWE has their ppv schedule set up where one would happen every few weeks it feels like it's been forever since we had an actual ppv.
