So interestingly, despite signing with WWE, the Hardys are apparently still allowed to do indie events (or at least this one, so far):

Hmm, well it would appear that while WWE approves of them making indy appearances, they don't approve of footage from said appearances to be uploaded... :hmm:

In light of Mauro Ranallo’s WWE hiatus and some shocking claims made by former WWE ring announcer Justin Roberts in his new book Best Seat in the House, WWE broadcaster John Bradshaw Layfield is getting a lot of attention for his alleged backstage bullying.

Roberts posted the following statement on Instagram explaining his motivation for recounting JBL’s behavior. Roberts says he didn’t write about JBL to get him fired, but to make the wrestling world a better place.

“I wrote ‘Best Seat In The House’ to tell my story about being a kid who loved and lived for pro-wrestling. I simply wanted to tell it honestly to inspire and hopefully bring positive changes. It’s hard for anyone to imagine the lowlights and only see the highlights. I had to show both, as that’s what made up the journey. I loved wrestling. I worked hard to get to where I got. Then I went through some rough times, because that was the culture. If that hadn’t gone on in the first place, this wouldn’t be an issue now. While a lot has changed over the years, a lot has remained the same. I still watch wrestling and I still love the sport. It’s not about getting anyone fired. Sometimes firing someone is just to bandaid a problem and does not address the root cause. I just hope that my story will help make the wrestling world a better place for everyone who is still involved as there are a LOT of great people who fall into that category and should be treated well.”

The IC title has been dead for years. All those names he rattled off were IC champions of the 90's, back when everything in WWF was big or important.

It's just a product of today's WWE where nothing, not even the Undertaker's last fucking match, can be given an aura of importance surrounding it. I've talked about this before, so there's no need to go into detail. At this point, it seems that unless you're supposed to be getting some big push, if you have a championship, it doesn't matter. WWE is totally fine with making any championship a total piece of garbage and void of prestige if they don't want you to break past a glass ceiling.

If you're not supposed to go over, you don't get over. Got it?

As for the Pre-show status at Mania, there was an outcry that the Smackdown women's title was being neglected not being on the main show and WWE moved it. Because of that, they had to move another match off the show and it happened to be the IC title match.

I actually thought the Undertaker's matches with Heidenreich were pretty decent.

Also, yeah, I remember that Taker vs. Taker match. What a complete slog that was. Any one of your sleeping gifs could apply to that stinker.

I'm looking ahead for the big ppv's later this year and what I think we'll be seeing at SummerSlam will be something like this:

Roman Reigns vs Brock Lensar for Universal Championship
Kevin Owens vs AJ Styles vs Randy Orton for WWE Championship
John Cena vs Shinsuke Nakamura #1 contender's match for WWE Championship
Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose vs Triple H and Samoa Joe

I see Reigns winning the title. Not sure with the Smackdown title, leaning Styles with a Baron Corbin MitB cash in right after.

So, after that, Survivor Series probably going to look something like this:

Roman Reigns vs Goldberg for Universal Championship
Shinsuke Nakamura vs AJ Styles for WWE Championship
Triple H, Samoa Joe, Finn Balor, Bobby Roode vs Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Kassius Ohno, Kurt Angle in the Raw SuSe elimination match
John Cena, American Alpha, and Luke Harper vs Bray Wyatt, Dolph Ziggler, Baron Corbin, and Elias Sampson in the SD elimination match

We’ve got an update on Matt and Jeff Hardy’s “Broken” characters. Since returning to WWE at WrestleMania, the Hardys have been wrestling under their real names with some subtle references to the broken universe. Their legal battle with Impact Wrestling parent company Anthem is still ongoing, but WWE is working on bringing the Broken Universe to RAW.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is in talks with Impact Wrestling parent company Anthem to secure the rights for the Broken characters. Meltzer said,

“The plan is to do the broken character. The delay is that they've gotta work out the deal [with Anthem] and the deal is not worked out… The goal is to work out the deal.”

Whether WWE licenses the rights to the Broken characters or outright acquires the trademarks, a deal is being worked on.

There is still a lot of excitement surrounding Matt and Jeff Hardy back in WWE, but WWE is aware their current gimmick will grow tired soon and the main storytelling potential lies with the Broken Universe.

Matt Hardy has been incorporating aspects of his various gimmicks in his current character, referencing “Matt Facts” on Twitter but also using the Broken Matt accent and talking about deleting people.
