It sounds as though Owens dropped the US title so his character can be re-branded a little bit. He was doing the anti-American thing but Jinder is also doing the anti-American thing and now Rusev is back to also do the anti-American thing. And that's all on the same show. So I think that makes sense. |

Idgi, for a company that's brands itself as a worldwide entertainment product, that every ppv features language specific announce teams, to still do the "anti-American" gimmick angles you'd think that would be contrary to what WWE would want. I'd think WWE would want a lot more of these foreigners to be booked like strong babyfaces who don't complain about "evil America" because I don't for a moment believe there's a sizeable amount of people in Bulgaria, Switzerland, India, etc. that really hate American or think that one wrestler that said anti-American heel is feuding with is the representation of America. Unless you have a character or wrestler who comes from Iran or Syria or other Middle Eastern nation, then I can believe that. |
