The past two episodes of Raw and Smackdown constituted 10 hours worth of television, commercials included. I gotta say in those 10 hours, the amount of which I was actually entertained and enjoyed watching was probably about one, maybe two hours total. That's 20% which is so bad of a failing grade, it doesn't qualify for even an F. There are good parts of these shows, notably the Joe-Roman-Braun triple threat last week, the Roman-Braun LMS match on Monday, the Dean and Seth Shield reunion cocktease WWE is putting us through, the Nakamura match with Cena, etc. But, on the other hand we've been getting these Lesnar-Heyman appearances to start Raw and they amount to nothing more than filler that have no lasting value to the company or the audience. They feel like Creative, Lesnar and Heyman are just going through the motions. Brock we already know is a lazy fuck who can't be asked to work a match and use more than 5 moves, Creative who we know can't do anything really Creative unless it passes Vince McMahon's smell test, and Heyman who looks like he's about to float away he's so bloated. Heyman is the most disconcerting of them all because it seems the past few years, he's only done one promo I can remember as being good and that was when he sang the Battle Hymn of the Republic to Lesnar. He's done other good stuff, like those recorded videos doing interviews with Renee Young or Michael Cole, but most of Heyman's live promos in the ring, in front of the crowd, they haven't been what they were in the past. I'm sure part of that lack of quality is from poor presentation and writing, but for the most part, Heyman just doesn't seem interested in the material and he's just doing it for the check. Not saying he's the only one that I get that feeling with, but he's the one I see it most clearly. Anyway, back to the bad parts of Raw and Smackdown. The tag team situation is in disaster mode. Teams have been broken up that shouldn't have been, injuries to tag teams has all but destroyed the momentum they had going, the Hardy's and the legal issues with getting the rights to the BROKEN gimmick... it's all a total dumpster fire. The Uso's and New Day are the best tag teams in WWE right now. Enzo and Cass splitting up has damaged both guys. Enzo can't be booked to win matches against bigger guys, he's not good in teh ring, so he'll be jobbed out and turned into a Santino character. Cass is fucking awful on the microphone, he needs somebody with him to cut his promos, of which he doesn't stumble over himself while he talks, it's just that he line delivery and body language is so stiff, WWE may as well put a broom in Cass's place and have Ole Anderson provide the voice for the broom like he did the Shockmaster. That would be better than Cass at this point. This is hard to say, but the women's division on Raw needs big changes. Nia Jax and Dana Brooke should not be on the show, they should be in NXT because they're awful. That would leave Alexa, Bayley, and Sasha as the legit girls, Emma and Mickie James as a contenders, but can also be used to put others over, and Alicia Fox as the full time jobber and fill in. That's too small of a roster to work with, so at some point, Ruby Riot, Asuka, and Ember Moon would need to be added. Smackdown's women division is actually a lot better off than Raw. Naomi has finally shown she can be a valuble part of the women's roster, Becky, Natalya, and Charlotte are great, Carmella is an excellent heel, and Lana is pretty good for promos. Tamina is the odd girl out and she's so old and awful that WWE just needs to release her. Anyone in NXT currently would be a better choice than Tamina. But, I'd still like to see Billie Kay and Payton Royce on Smackdown. |

^ It's still one of my favorites from that 2/25 episode of Raw. That was the last singles match those two had and it wasn't just a thrown together match, it was to determine who would face Rock at Mania. It's too bad that it didn't end up being a triple threat, because Rock-Cena-Punk would have been far better than what we ended up getting and so far, Rock still hasn't really worked a match in WWE since. |
