I'm looking forward to the initial pop and reaction

After that....can't say I'm /too/ excited. I saw his run in TNA and it was not good.

I wouldn't say I'm too excited to see Hogan anymore, but it'll be hard for me not to pop when Real American fires up.

I'm interested in it, but I'm not looking forward to what WWE might turn it into. I'm fine with Hogan having one last nostalgia run, but that must end at Wrestlemania. Hogan cannot wrestle anymore and his time in the spotlight should not and cannot last longer than the Raw after Mania. Hogan needs to leave for good after this Mania and stay away. If WWE tries to turn him into a regular on screen authority figure which you know Hogan will accept in a second, I can't go for that. WWE and their inconsistent and outright boring stories coupled with part timer reliance is crushing the creativity in the company and including the prune Hulk Hogan teaming up with newly crowned WWEWHC Batista is repulsive.

I say this now because I have a feeling WWE is going to want to push Hogan as the leader of the "anti-Authority" leader.

^Even so that doesn't really make sense. If guys get over and get more popular, that leads to more money for WWE. People are more likely to watch, people are more likely to buy tickets to shows, and people are more likely to buy merchandise.

I think the problem is that WWE is far more stubborn in their thinking today than they were in the past. "We're doing things our way whether you guys like it or not". Compare that to the past: IIRC the original plan was for Triple H to get a monster push in 96/97 but then WWE saw the reactions Austin was getting so they ran with him instead. Austin ended up making the WWE more money than any other wrestler in history. Like Dude said, I'm not sure Austin would even be given much of a chance if he was coming up today.
And that's the problem

I think we can all agree that it's a problem, but you have to understand WWE's perspective of it. WWE makes these decisions because they in all honesty and no pun intended believe that it is best for business. Letting the fans decide who WWE should push sounds like anarchy to whoever the major players in WWE are now, but back when Austin was becoming the guy, WCW was blazing through the wrestling world and if WWE didn't embrace who was getting over, they likely would have lost those viewers to WCW, had their TV shows cancelled, and gone out of business. WWE doesn't have the same possibility of impending doom as they did in 1995-96 and believe that putting their "chosen ones" front and center will reap the most reward.

The result ends up being that the fans dislike the product, but have no where else to turn to unless they want to watch a gay British midget get squashed by a mysterious rich black guy who looks like MVP.

It'll be nice to hear from him again, yes.

However, the keywords here is ''hear''. Anything else would just spoil the moment.

He's gonna do that Hogan thing where he gets in the ring, the crowd is cheering, he grabs a mic and goes to speak, but stops suddenly and the crowd cheers louder. This goes on for 5 minutes before he finally speaks and will say something like "I missed you guys/that/this."

...and then Zeb Colter comes out and cuts a promo about Hogan not being a "Real American," right? RIGHT?

Can I have some decorum, please?

I hope not, because it may only lead to some kind of hint we DO NOT wish to see come to fruition.

I think the way Punk left was fine. He left on his terms and stayed the true rebel. It works because Punk has long proclaimed both in character and not that he can leave anytime, where Austin never said things like that as his character was always "I'm gonna kick your ass, drink beer, kick more ass, and drink more beer."

Punk said what he was gonna do, did it, and has essentially said it has been done. If he comes back, that destroys his credibility and I have no interest in cheering him if he does return.
