So, I'm sitting here desperately trying to think (convince myself) that something interesting will happen tonight and it will not simply continue the status quo WWE's established for WrestleMania. One (unlikely) scenario did occur to me. We've all come to the conclusion that it's pretty much inevitable that Triple H is wrestling at Mania and that he'll wrestle Daniel Bryan (so that he can either bury or, more likely, "put over" the hottest guy in the company). But... What about Orton? I know Triple H vs Orton isn't going to be a match that inspires the imagination around here (or anywhere), but I think it could be the least offensive option. Since the Authority started, there have really only been two consistencies, being against Daniel Bryan and tension between the Authority and Orton. If Orton drops the belt at Elimination Chamber, he could lose his shit and lash out at the Authority and this match could be set up to pay off that angle at WrestleMania. Unfortunately, the only thing WWE is committed to is Batista main eventing WrestleMania and I don't see much of a way around that. Sadly, Daniel Bryan vs Batista is not a match that lights my fire any more than Orton-H or Orton-Batista. Completely severing any of the tenuous ties that I have with things that could actually happen, maybe it could become a 3-Way or 4-Way, with the Authority inserting their "new face" into the match (Sheamus). That would at least put somebody else that can work in the match and set up a strong underdog story for Bryan to play with. Throw in the self-proclaimed #1 contender Lesnar for the 4-Way to pay off that story. My scrambled (totally not happening) WrestleMania 30: 4-Way for the WWE Championship: DB vs Batista vs Lesnar vs Sheamus John Cena vs Taker Trips vs Orton Shield vs Wyatts |
