Even though The Shield only JUST recently split, I would still be SO down for a Best Of DVD already. Seriously, it's insane the sheer number of 5 star classics that those three have managed to put on in such a relatively short span of time. |

Makes you think with Barretts injury. Only good thing that can take from this is that it happened on smackdown. And not in the Ladder match where it could have been a lot worse. (going with the idea that it was inevitable) I do hope he is available to delivery "Bad News" to the universe on his rising podium. |

If I were WWE, that's what I would do as soon as his injury allows. There are two schools of thought for injury returns, to ignore the injured superstar completely and play up the surprise return (Most Cena injuries seem to go this way, Sheamus's shoulder) and that can pay off for guys, like the 2008 Rumble remains probably the high point for John Cena. However, I think there are much bigger dividends to be pulled from keeping injured guys visible when you can. Triple H's first quad injury, for example, was played brilliantly by WWE to turn him face. Between the mad props he earned gutting through the match and the consistent updates on Trips busting his ass to come back all added up to one of the more memorable pops in WWE histry when he came back. Meanwhile, it was the first (of many) shoulder injuries for Orton that started the road to make him look like a star. When he was hurt, he (and Cena) were Player 1 (and Player 2) generic CAWs. Through the Randy Orton injury updates, he got to show himself in his smug, preening best and had us wanting to see him get his face kicked well before he was a Legend Killer and Batista was a Deacon. Bad News Barrett is already established as having a non-wrestling role that can be used even while he's injured to keep him visible and build up his return. It does kind of make you wish they had done a couple fewer BNB segments and got him back in the ring a little sooner than WWE did. |
