There was a time when only two guys did commentary on both shows, so this is not an unreasonable request. I don't know what the deal is with needing 3 or 4 man booths, it's just a clusterfuck. There are times I think a three man team is worth doing, but that's when all three guys actually contribute something. I remember after Lawler's heart attack they brought JR back and he was with Cole and JBL for a bit and I thought that having a three man team was pretty cool. There was a time JR, King, and Vince were the commentary team and they all did well together and all added to the presentation. Now, you have Cole, who is the play by play who needs to be there, Graves is the best heel color guy they've had since Lawler so those two must be there. But then you have Otunga or Saxton and they're pointless in the role. They just read lines that don't need to be read, say things that don't need to be said. To me, they're there because WWE is trying to get these guys experience for the future. Mauro leaving creates a gap that needs filling because he was probably the future lead commentator for the time when Cole is gone. It seems that when it comes to commentary, ESPN grabs them from WWE ASAP and it leaves WWE standing there with their mic in their hands. So WWE just tries to throw as many people in the booths as they can to take the green off them. Hell, a couple years ago they had Albert down in NXT as the color guy. What bothers me about the commentary, among other things, is there doesn't seem to be any organization or strategy. Everything seems like a poorly thought out decision and is put together last minute. Makes sense I get that feeling considering the shows are usually re-written minutes before they go live on air. Because they need to rep the minority, you should know better. Just reading through this show and it sounds like one of the worst shows this year. Bless any of you that sat through it. I'm really bummed that Samoa Joe is the heel Sami Zayn on RAW now. Just shows they never had any real interest in marketing him as a star. Prove me wrong please! Crews is going to team with the other black guy with no direction? Seems like a Vince move... Strowman is made to look like this and it will lead to super Reigns beating him at Payback. I'm on the fence to going to this live. |

The show actually wasn't bad. There was a fair women's #1 contender match, Jericho had good segments, Strowman is a fucking monster who beat up jobbers all night, and there was some nice tag team related stuff. I enjoyed it. Of course, when it comes to Braun, it's all just like Rusev before he lost to Cena. Build 'em up and have your top guy knock them down. Problem is Roman's not the guy people want to be seeing knock them down. The biggest thing that bothers me is Samoa Joe. Currently, the possibility of turning Joe in the chosen champion is there, but I cannot seriously believe that Vince is going to book him to be on the same level as Brock Lesnar or Roman Reigns. Joe's stuck surrounded by a bunch of other names on that show that he's never going to break out to be a main event champion. Right now, Joe on Raw is going to be no different than him being on Impact during the Hogan era. There's possibility that he could have a run with the Intercontinental title and I think that'd be fine, but it has to be used to move him up to the main event, not like Rusev where it was just used as another guy for Cena to overcome.
