Shield and Usos and the women's elimination match look like the best on the card so far. I would imagine Asuka is going to be in it, so they can book her to be the sole survivor after dealing with 3 to 1 odds or something. |

Maybe she gets attacked before the match and can't make it to the ring, or during the match she gets DQ'd or counted out. There are all kinds of ways for them to screw it up. |

So, like, just about no titles defended at the last PPV, and it looks like none are being defended here either. Fantastic.

"however, the Observer notes that there is great intrigue in a possible Lesnar vs. Austin feud." You don't say! Of course there's going to be interest in Lesnar and Austin, but we've been down this road before with Austin coming out of retirement for another match and I think that ship has sailed. There have been several times that I did want to see Austin do a match, most notably with CM Punk, but that was 5 years ago and there's a big difference between a 47 year old man whose been out of the ring for 9 years and a 52 year old man whose been gone for 14 years. I doubt that Austin will even take WWE up on the offer because it's hunting season and will be until December, but if he does, you'll see WWE do a full court press and basically make Austin the de facto manager for Roman Reigns, Austin might even join the Shield, and he'll be cutting Roman's promos for him. Vince will try so hard to get Roman cheered and it will lead to the same result it always has: boos. And the possible result of that won't just be Roman getting booed, Austin might get them. You may think that's not true, that's impossible, but look at what happened to Bayley a few months back during that horrible Life segment with Bliss and after she got injured by Nia Jax. WWE managed to figure out a way to have the most pristine babyface that may have ever graced the women's division in that company to GET TREATED LIKE A LOSER HEEL! I think we're more likely to see Biker Undertaker do the special guest ref spot, then again, he probably can't get up and down to do the pinfall counts, so maybe he'll show up as an Enforcer or something. |

You know I'm not. I'm trying to make the point that the current and modern WWE has the ability to get ANYONE booed. Look at Rock at the Rumble in 2015 and you'll see what mere association with Roman Reigns can lead to under the right circumstances. |

Just, look at Rock's face starting at 0:35 up until 0:55. In all the years I've watched the Rock, I've never seen legit anger and frustration from him until this interview immediately after the Rumble. He even tells the guy with the mic, "God damn man, you're getting fired." for asking a question. His frustration is so great, that they actually have to zoom in on Roman and get Rock out of camera shot. Edited by T-Unit, Oct 29 2017, 06:51:09 PM.

But is that the fans outright booing the Rock or are they angry and disappointed that Roman won the Rumble and booing him while the Rock just happens to be there? It's like the 2014 Rumble where Batista was booed not because he was disliked but because that was supposed to be Daniel Bryan's spot and anyone but Bryan was unacceptable. Then for 2015 it was like Bray Wyatt once said "Anyone but you, Roman" and then Roman won and the fans were disappointed again in the winner. Plus as you said the Rock was pretty frustrated and he likely went off about it so they probably learned to not trot out some beloved legend to try and pass that love onto Roman. In fact I don't think they care anymore if Roman gets a babyface reaction or not because every time he goes out there he gets an overwhelming reaction, even if it is 90% negative. Cena got the same thing for a long time and if it's good enough for Cena it's good enough for Roman. Plus, you remember the night on Raw after Roman defeated Undertaker? The crowd shit on Roman for what seemed like 10 straight minutes. If they cared about Roman getting a babyface reaction then there's no way they let that go on for as long as they did. But they let happen it because it was a overwhelming reaction. |

Yeah, you're right that it's not necessarily the reaction WWE cares about, it's the narrative so that way Vince can have Cole, Booker, and Tattoos (Legit forgetting Raw's color commentator) say, "Even Hall of Famer Stone Cold said that Roman is the bestest, greatest ever" and so and so legend loves Roman and admits he's great. So, no WWE doesn't care if Roman gets cheered, but if he does, they'll gladly take it. The Shield reunion was going to be the method to accomplish that, but Roman got sick and the eventual deal with whoever ends up being the guest ref for the Lesnar match with Jinder May Hall will end up being used to give Roman a rub going into his feud with Lensar. Were the fans booing Rock directly? No, they were booing by association, booing that Rock was trotted out to make Roman look like the hot new big dog. That same thing will happen with Austin if they try to do it because Vince is stubborn and thinks his shit will work. Vince hasn't learned anything the past 2+ years with Roman. People will boo because they resent being subjected to seeing one of their all time favorites be reduced to a salesman. Again, we know Vince and company don't care, but that doesn't mean the guys like Rock or Austin don't care about what material they're given and made to do and more importantly, the fans can only take so much before they tune out completely. You package the shitty booking of Finn Balor, Asuka, the jobbing of Braun to Brock, the push of Jinder as champ... all stuff that has soured with fans, and you add Stone Cold worshipping Roman and you may have the recipe to cause people to turn off the show completely. The matches Roman works are generally good, but the ratings and fan reception I can't say the same and the bottom line is money. WWE may have had a quarter that beat Wall St. expectations, but that's not because of Roman and it's not because of what they've been putting out Mon and Tuesdays and twice a month on Sundays. |

I would sorta doubt it. Surely Kane has to beat whoever he faces, so as to re-build his monster status before he goes up against Braun, and I'd hate to think that WWE would actually feed The Demon to Kane as well.

Jeez, so the word going around is that the Smackdown women's team is being favored to win at Survivor Series so that has them stumped on what to do with Asuka. If they put her on the Raw team she either has to lose, which completely blows an angle for ending her undefeated streak, or she either has to be DQ'd or counted out which makes her look dumb. Or they leave her off the team entirely but then Angle looks like an idiot because why the fuck would he not select Asuka to be on the Raw team? |

With it being Raw vs Smackdown they're going to keep the victories as even as possible rather than have Raw dominate. Since Kurt Angle's job is now apparently on the line that makes it more likely that Raw will take that match-up. Plus Roman is supposed to be on the team. lol Jinder doesn't beat Brock. If it were the ordinary Seth and Dean vs The Usos I would have said it's a toss up, but since this is the Shield version of Seth and Dean I would say they are favored to win the match. The women's champions and the IC/US title matches could go either way, although possibly in Smackdown's favor so they can get some wins in. But nobody really cares. So that leaves the women's 5 on 5 match which they apparently want the Smackdown women to win. Spoiler: click to toggle
