WWE Royal Rumble - January 28, 2018

Just need to stop doing rumble matches entirely. Have Elimination Chamber in January with the peeps who had a chance at winning the rumble (only about a handful do) and then do some Road to Wrestlemania ppv in late February. The WWE's rumble booking has killed that early mania buzz for me.

I actually completely agree with you, and have all of the same concerns for it. Multiple gimmick matches on a single show is already questionable (HIAC, elimination chamber, MITB, etc...), but 2 full Royal Rumbles is taking things way to the extreme in that regard. It's just going to be way too much, and the women's roster is way too thin to be able to pull it off and maintain interest all the way through. I honestly think it shoulda maxed out at 15 myself. But if this is going to become a new thing, and every year at the Rumble we have TWO Rumble matches to look forward to, then I dunno, that just sounds exhausting even thinking about. Hell, it might be worth considering actually holding them on separate shows.
For this Rumble, given it's the first women's Rumble ever, I have enough interest in it to watch it. The first and last 5 minutes of it will be the most exciting, so it's worth the investment.

After this year tho... no, HELL NO. After the past 5 Rumbles and who has won them, I just can't fucking care about it anymore. Were it not for the women's Rumble, I wouldn't watch this one. Up and down the card looks horrible.

Not gonna happen. WWE added the Andre battle royal at Mania every year so they could put their jobbers and other people they couldn't fit into matches on the card into a giant Mosh Pit match so they could say they performed at Mania. WWE will never dump the Rumble match for similar reasons, it gives them something to do and occasionally they like to debut outsiders in the Rumble. Vader, AJ Styles... Samoa Joe was almost the last entrant last year, which would have been his debut, but that didn't happen even though it would have been perfect.

There's no real theme to it instead somebody just said 'yeah, just put everyone on it.'

Also, the Womens Champs are included with the rest of the women in that rumble line-up. Except, surely they shouldn't actually be a part of the match, right? :?

Edit: tho it looks like Styles is down there, too, so #FuckIt I suppose.

There's always the possibility that one or more of the champs could lose the title and be in the Rumble.

But, yeah, it's really obvious that WWE's modus operendi is "Get as many involved as possible, we don't want to leave anyone out!"

Imagine if instead of Austin and Rock in the main event of two Wrestlemania's they had Mick Foley, Triple H, Undertaker, Kane, etc. involved in the match.

I think that's kind of what sank the Fatal 4 Way at 2000 so bad. Foley shouldn't have even been in the match in the first place because he was retired by Triple H at No Way Out, but having so many people in a main event takes away from having people really become larger than life. Part of why the women are so tame right now.

This is the new plan going forward now that the brands are split. Rumble, Mania, MitB, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series will be 5+ hour ppvs. Mania will be 7 hours from now on most likely, especially if they keep having Undertaker do entrances.

In what is really random there are betting sites that list Daniel Bryan as the third favorite to win the Royal Rumble, behind Nakamura at 1 and Roman at 2.

These odds are simply made from rumors and speculation but it's odd that an authority figure is that high in the rankings.

I saw a youtube video in passing that said something to the effect that Meltzer is reporting that Vince doesn't have faith in Nakamura for Mania and is not going to put him in the WWE title match. Given how little we've seen of Nakamura this month, I'm starting to worry that it's true.

Forget Nak winning the Rumble, the concern is he may not be on the Mania card at all.

I think Wrestlemania will sell regardless of what the matches are. If it's Roman/Brock and the rumored Undertaker/Cena then there are your main events and you can do whatever the fuck else to fill out the card.

No, no you can't just have any match be for the WWE Championship on the WWE Network at WWE Wrestlemania because the WWE Championship match IS part of the main event as it is a co main event match.

That's why I can't trust putting some Asian guy in the match because he was a star in Japan, I DON'T GIVE A CRAP ABOUT THAT SHITHOLE COUNTRY! Japanese crowds won't pay for merch, but the UK crowds do. No, I'm gonna have to look into Drew McIntyre's condition. Maybe he's good enough to enter at number 30 and work some basic spots for a few minutes and get the win. By April he'll be at least 70%, which is a passing grade in my book!

Styles vs McIntyre for the WWE Championship. Nakamura can do a 6 man tag with Orton and Bryan against Owens, Zayn, and my little bastard son.
