There's no end to it and it's run its course. I get that it's all part of a bigger plan, probably culminating in a Bryan vs Shane match at Mania, but week in and week out it comes off as the worst segs and story on Smackdown. The promos when Shane talks and argues with Bryan are bland and uninteresting, I can't find myself to give a shit about them, and it all stems from it being another fucking McMahon being the center of gravity on WWE television. I mean, can you imagine if during the 90s Ted Turner decided to use his kids as storyline characters on Nitro? That's exactly what this shit is. I'm certain that Shane has no ego and doesn't really care how he's booked to look or come across as a character, unlike his sister who I have to believe would fire any writer who pitched the idea to make her look foolish or a loser. Shane's at least more tolerable to watch than Stephanie because at least Shane can take a bump and put people over while Steph can only ever do the opposite. Still, It doesn't excuse how lame Shane's involvement in Smackdown has been the majority of this year. He's been shoehorned into stuff with AJ and Owens and now Bryan and I just feel that there should be a break from Shane. We went 6 months without Stephanie on Raw, I'd like to see a few months without Shane on Smackdown. Yeah, so the Shane/Daniel/Owens/Zayn stuff is hopefully in it's last throws because I can't take much more of it. For the wrestlers, all it is is to give them something to do without deciding what to do with the WWE title and who to push to challenge Styles for it while they build to Shane and Bryan at Mania. The rest of Smackdown is in great position. I'm throughly entertained by the tag teams, the women, and the US title stuff. Even Jinder didn't come off too terribly bad last night as he usually does. |
