With it all said and done, this seemed like a waste of a ppv. not much changed in the way of storylines (shakeup played a part in that). Besides elias samson, no one else really got a boost from that rumble match. braun surely didn't need the win after burying the Bar w/ a ten year old @ wrestlemania. Nothing meaningful happened for people to go back and watch this one in the future.

Storyline wise, yeah you're right, but that wasn't their point by doing this. The aim with this show was to introduce a live event to Saudi Arabia and establish a fanbase and something they can build upon in the future. They wanted a successful big feel show to prove it can be done and that WWE and other companies/events can do it just as well. So they did what was basically a safe show to please the audience. Whenever they do live events they're designed on pleasing the audience above anything else, so this ppv was basically a glorified house show times 100.

The fact that neither of the world titles changed hands on this occasion, despite being billed as such a big event, is really what helps fuel that whole "house show" feel.

A house show in a huge stadium, with pyro, and an original set.

And one that will apparently happen once a year for the next 9 years.

Surely they aren't going to have both an annual Royal Rumble AND an annual Greatest Royal Rumble event, right? :?

Probably not a Royal Rumble, but maybe some other stuff like a KOTR tournament.

My hope is for an all women's card featuring a Hijab vs Hijab match.
