There was a time that Roman's matches weren't all that good, but he improved to the point he was watchable, but unless he's working a big match with AJ Styles, Roman doesn't come off as a top tier wrestler. You contrast Rollins and Miz in the opener to this match between Joe and Reigns and the IC title match should have main evented because it was the better match because it had better wrestlers. |

And I was wondering why I had no interest in this show because it didn't feel like anything was going to happen on this show that was worth watching. No titles changed, the finishes to a lot of these matches were either bad or downright insulting, some of these matches that were possibly interesting were over faster than I could take a piss, and it lasted for 4 hours. You know, watching paint dry for 4 hours would have ended up being the same thing as watching Backlash tonight because nothing changed. |

It's WWE trying to extend a "good" feud longer than one or two ppv's. The only real fuck finish was the Shinsuke and Styles match, but that was about as bad a fuck finish as I've seen in a long time. The Charlie Flair and Carmella match was just a bad finish, but it fit with Charlie hurting her knee and maybe we'll see a leg injury angle for her in the coming weeks, so I'll let that slide, but AJ and Shinsuke was just shit. I can understand stretching out a feud to last 2 months or more, but doing it the way WWE did it tonight was perhaps the worst way it could have been done. If you didn't want to take the title off AJ and keep Shinsuke looking like a strong contender, have Danial Bryan do a run in and low blow Shinsuke for low blowing him in a dark match. Oh wait, you fucked that up because Big Cass had to look strong by attacking Bryan after he tapped out and you can't have Bryan no selling the effects of said attack. You see, it's just a failure to book cohesively and the way Vince McMahon books these shows today really shows his mental state and the state of Creative; it's a fucking mess. It's a fucking mess and it's a fucking shame with the sheer amount of talent the WWE has on it's roster. |

Tonight was just another exhibit of what I feared years ago was going to happen to WWE ppv's when they went from $50 a show to $10. My concern was because the prices of the shows was going to be less, the quality was going to drop too and so far, if you look back at WWE ppv's going back 4 years, they've generally not been good, at least not since the Network launched. It's not like every ppv has been shit, some have been good, but overall they're not as good and many of them don't seem to have any meaning. Battleground 2017 was the last truly dog shit ppv WWE produced and that was a year ago. MitB and other ppv's will be better, but I can't help but feel that watching WWE in 2018 has become a waste of time. When the pre-show started, I was watching a youtube live stream and when that stream ended, I had Backlash on in the background while I looked up used trucks on autotrader. In the time I spent looking at trucks, I actually felt like I was accomplishing something and NOT wasting my time. Had I spent that just watching WWE... I would have blown through 4 fucking hours of my Sunday night. IT'S A WASTE OF TIME! |
