[Drekan Vermand] In the back of the Imperial Ration Shuttle, amongst a handful of the last boxes of Imperial nutrition paste, the contingent of Storm Commando Operators began the tedious process of equipping themselves with the paste-covered Alliance SpecForce Uniform and Gear. In a sense, this was an early Life Day present to the group of washed out Storm Commandos that still took orders from the last remaining true officials within the Galactic Empire. The ride was hardly smooth in the back of the cargo shuttle situated within the crevices of the crates of paste, and it was to be a mere couple of minutes before they arrived at the receiving bay of their target: The understaffed Remnant Drydock located within the Hook Nebula, and the fleet located within. In fact, the plan was remarkably simple: take control of the Communications and Securities center, then abuse it. Simple enough job, and they’d all make it home, or at least, whatever home was to the Storm Commandos. In the last few seconds, they primed the disintegrator self-destruction vests under their uniforms. A bump, a crash, and the ship settled down, the cargo bay of the shuttle opening. Their pilot greeted the Imperial Logistics crew, and welcomed them aboard into the darkness. A few moments later, and the same unloading crew emerged from the bay with the crates in hand. From the distance they were from cameras, and how natural the process looked, one could hardly tell the crates had been opened. After a few trips back and forth to the cargo bay, the shuttle “couldn’t take off”. Engine troubles, supposedly. The bureaucracy of the Remnant would mandate a week beached in the Drydock, and a few hours’ time before the receiving bay could be cleared. Not like it had to be moved immediately, there wouldn’t be another delivery until the next standard cycle. The repair crews had time to spare. The Logistics Wing smelt terribly. Or, it was probably the unopened ration crates and the dead Logistics crew left behind by the now fully clad “Alliance” SpecForce squad that was taking the supply tram to the Communications and Securities wing, under the cover of the various components and armaments that was to be sent to the armory. They arrived, and the understaffed Logistics crew didn’t take much to exterminate. A few thrown knives and quick throat slashes later, and the SpecForce crew was now marching down the hallway towards the Communications and Securities’ hub. Any they met along the way was quickly dispatched by the Infiltrator’s modified CQB-variant A280s, overcharged for close quarters as indicated by the energy cells left behind upon the Drydock’s floor. Upon reaching the Communications and Securities center, which would have taken less than a minute and thirty seconds with few survivors left in their wake, a breaching charge was placed on the blast door of the hub. In the ensuing haze of smoke and sonic grenades which could have been painfully seen on the camera tapes, it was clear that their A280s had some form of thermal imaging, as they dispatched the contingent inside with relative ease in the first few seconds of chaos. No survivors, the body of the highest in command hung from the ceiling. Clearly alarms would have been sounded, but, the Remnant was unlikely to had have changed their scheduling for routine drills after the fall of the Emperor and collapse of the Empire. It would have taken too much needed effort. Therefore, with access to the old records base of the Imperial Military through their superiors, the Storm Commandos would have hit the Communications and Security hub on a test day for their Drydock’s intruder drills. A beep and a buzz later, over the intercoms, the Leader’s voice sounded, “Thank you for participating in this drill. For the Empire.” With that a click, then silence. Life continued normally for a mere moment the drydock, then the sound of the security auto-cannons roared throughout the halls. Those same security systems that came to life targeted the docking clamps of the Imperial Ships, as well as the maintenance material depots. Any repair droid was also added to the “hostile” parameters, and should any of the crews attempted to leave their respective ships, they likewise were considered “hostile”, except for the SpecForce. Having been caught off guard, it would have been nigh impossible for escape. Except from their receiving bay. From the access logs located within the Communications and Securities hubs systems which were left intact, it would be easy to then decipher that this SpecForce contingent was clearly behind, then, the mysterious disappearances of the fuel shuttles en route to the Drydock that followed only hours afterwards. Yet, who would have been running the hub in the absence of the normal command crew? Well, the only hint lay in the security films: 13 arrived, 12 left, and the one man in the security tape vanished in a bright flash. Terrorists. |
