OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Joe Flacco reacts to positive and negative feedback the same way he responds to a jolting hit in the pocket: He shakes it off, stands tall and proceeds as if it never happened. This has been a good week for Flacco, who led the Baltimore Ravens on a beat-the-clock drive Sunday night in a 23-20 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Showing all the poise of a 10-year veteran, Flacco moved the offence 92 yards against the leagues second-ranked defence, culminating the march with a 26-yard touchdown pass to rookie Torrey Smith with eight seconds remaining. Although he has been praised for his performance in Pittsburgh, Flacco knows hes only one interception away from being blasted by fans and the media. "Its definitely true. But thats why the quarterbacks are what the quarterbacks are. Theyre guys that can take criticism and move on to the next week," Flacco said Wednesday. "Theyre guys that can take whatever people are saying good about them and not really pay too much attention to it. It takes a lot to have to deal with those different emotions every week. Thats why you have to stay the course and not really pay too much attention to all that stuff." Ravens coach John Harbaugh said, "Im sure Johnny Unitas got some criticism when he was playing, certainly." Ever since he was named the starter before the first game of his rookie season, Flacco has alternatingly been praised and smeared. The University of Delaware product hasnt won a Super Bowl, but he took the Ravens to the playoffs in each of his first three seasons and is on course to do it again. Baltimore is tied with Cincinnati for the best record in the AFC heading into Sundays game in Seattle (2-6). "Were a 6-2 football team and weve won a lot of games since Ive been here," Flacco said. One of his most notable victories came on Sunday night. With first place on the line and a sweep of the hated Steelers hanging in the balance, Flacco calmly took the Ravens the length of the field in 13 remarkable plays. "We all believe that Joe can do it. It was just a matter of going out there and actually doing it," running back Ray Rice said. "He was poised. I dont think there was one worry or doubt that we werent going to go down the field and score. Im not saying it was easy. But if you would have seen the huddle. ... Joe did a great job of just driving us down." The Ravens have long counted on their defence to win games, but in this one, linebackers Terrell Suggs and Ray Lewis were watching from the sideline as the offence walked onto the field in just over two minutes left and Baltimore needing a touchdown to win. "Joe just kept putting it there. I was highly in awe of what was happening," Suggs said. "Even when they had 92 yards to go, Ray was saying, We still got it. And I was just like, If you say we got it, we got it. And they went and did it." Lewis has formulated his own unwavering opinion of the quarterback, and its quite unlike those of the quarterbacks critics. "Im probably one of the biggest fans of Joe. I dont care what nobody says," Lewis said. "Any time Joe is going through that (criticism), I tell him, just go be Joe. That night, when he had an opportunity to go out there, we could have ended that script a lot of different ways. But it had to be done that way. "From the first day the kid came in here to now in his fourth year, theres not a pass he cant throw, theres not a coverage he cant read. Hes only getting better with time." Rice and Flacco broke into the league together, and the Pro Bowl running back has seen Flacco remain expressionless in the wake of countless insults. "Its the quarterback position. Youre going to get hit with the highs, the lows," Rice said. "When you lose, its your fault. Theres a lot of stuff that goes on with that, and hes handled it very well. Hes our quarterback. Im not afraid to say I look forward to playing with Joe Flacco for a long time." Cheap Jerseys NFL . Hes been allowed to attempt just eight in this - his third NFL season. And all of this has raised doubts over whether there will be a quarterback home for him next season with the New York Jets. Cheap Jerseys China . But if "Bones" Jones had the chance to make his decision again, he would still tell UFC President Dana White that he wouldnt accept a replacement light heavyweight title defence on eight days notice. http://www.nfljerseyschinawholesalecheaponsale.com/ . -- Redskins starting left tackle Trent Williams was going to have an MRI exam on the injured right knee that kept him out for most of Washingtons 38-31 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. Cheap Jerseys From China . There were plenty of handshakes and welcome-back hugs all around as the six-foot-four, 248-pound tailback returned to the Edmonton Eskimos on Thursday after being released Saturday by the NFLs Miami Dolphins. Cheap Jerseys . Donovan sensed a quiet confidence among his Los Angeles Galaxy teammates that they were not out of the game. He shared that feeling, figuring the Galaxy had the right players to make some special plays. MILAN, Italy -- AC Milan came from behind to beat 10-man Catania 3-1 in Serie A on Friday as its recent resurgence continues. Catania took the lead in the 11th minute when former Milan defender Nicola Lettograglie headed in a corner as the Rossoneri conceded yet again from a dead-ball situation. However, the match swung Milans way after the interval as Catania was forced to play almost the whole of the second half with 10 men following Pablo Barrientos sending off. Stephan El Shaarawy scored twice either side of a stunning strike from Kevin-Prince Boateng, who was shown a straight red card in the final minute. The Catania players protested furiously after El Shaaraways first strike as he was clearly offside, but the goal was given. The 20-year-old has now scored 12 goals in the league this season, four more than any other player in Serie A. "The first goal from El Shaarawy was offside," Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri said. "It was easy to see. It was tough on Catania, because they played a really good game. "The first half was very even, but we improved vastly in the second half. It is an important win for us and it allows us to continue the good form we are on." Milan hadnt lost in Catania since 1963 but hadnt won any of its past five away games, while the Sicilian side had lost just once at home this season. However, Milan was full of confidence after beaating defending champion and Serie A leader Juventus 1-0 in its previous match.dddddddddddd Milans downfall this season has been set pieces and that was to again prove its undoing as Lettograglie rose above Francesco Acerbi to powerfully head home Francesco Lodis corner. Milan slowly started to improve but struggled to find a way past Catanias solid defence. Catania was reduced to 10 men at the start of the second half when Barrientos was shown a second yellow card for a needless kick on Antonio Nocerino. Barrientos had picked up his first booking four minutes from the break for diving. Milan levelled in the 53rd when Robinho flicked on Boatengs cross for an easy tap-in for El Shaarawy. And the visiting side was ahead just three minutes later when Boateng picked up the ball 25 metres from goal, swiveled and created some space for himself before unleashing a wonderful strike into the top right corner. Robinho missed a glorious chance 10 minutes from time when he blazed over from close range, in front of an open goal. Milan went even closer as Robinhos shot was parried by Mariano Andujar at point-blank range, and the rebound fell to Urby Emanuelson who fired off the left upright. Boateng was given a straight red in the final minute after a two-footed lunge on Giovanni Marchese. El Shaarawy sealed the result in stoppage time, curling a stunning shot into the far corner. ' ' '
