NELSPRUIT, South Africa -- Alain Traore scored two goals Friday to help 10-man Burkina Faso take control of Group C with a 4-0 victory over Ethiopia in the African Cup of Nations. Traore netted in the 34th and 74th minutes at the Mbombela Stadium to become the leading scorer in the tournament with three, and ensure that goalkeeper Abdoulaye Soulamas red card ultimately had no effect on the game. Soulama was sent off with Burkina Faso leading 1-0 with half an hour remaining for handling the ball outside the area. But Ethiopia was unable to capitalize, and Djakaridja Kone and Jonathan Pitroipa rounded off the scoring for Burkina Faso to put it top of its group with four points. Ethiopia made four changes from the team that drew 1-1 with Zambia as it tried to counter the Burkinabes physical presence with pace. The tactic nearly paid dividends in the opening minutes of the game when Salahdin Saids crafty backheel put Shimelese Bikele through on goal, only for his effort to hit the upright. Burkina Faso grew in stature, and after Wilfried Sanou had a goal ruled out for offside, Traore gave it a deserved lead. Although Ethiopia defender Degu Debebe was able to clear an initial attack off the line, the Ethiopian defence rushed out and allowed Charles Kabore to send a ball over the top for Traore to open the scoring. The diminutive Ethiopians continued to struggle with the raw power of their opponents, and made two injury-enforced substitutions before halftime. They were handed an unexpected advantage in the second half when Soulama snatched a relatively harmless ball from outside his penalty area and was shown a straight red card. But as Ethiopia pressed forward, Burkina Faso was able to hit on the break and Traore rifled home his second from 30 yards out. Kone and Pitroipa completed the rout as Ethiopia fell apart, giving Burkina Faso its first win at the African Cup in 15 years. cheap jerseys from china . He does have reason to believe its a job that might have become a little easier. After spending the past four seasons with the Carolina Hurricanes having to defend against Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, Sutter now counts both as teammates. "I can remember coming into Pittsburgh having to play against Crosby or Malkin, which wasnt always a ton of fun," Sutter said on a teleconference call Monday, three days after being acquired by Pittsburgh in a deal that sent Jordan Staal to Carolina. "Im looking forward to being on the other side of that now." Another benefit in joining the prolific Penguins is the potential of a trickle-down effect Crosby and Malkin can provide in helping Sutter add a little more offence -- something he found to be missing in his game Carolina. "I felt there were times where I almost felt like I was stuck," Sutter said, referring to how the Hurricanes regarded him mostly for his defence. "I dont want to be looked at as just a defensive player. I want to score goals and do things, too," Sutter said. "Obviously, I dont know who Ill be playing with yet, but in terms of roster, their rosters obviously deeper than what were used to in Carolina. And a chance to play with more talented players, too, can help." Though it took a few days for the shock of being traded for the first time in his career to wear off, Sutter is findiing himself more excited about the opportunity to join a proven winner.dddddddddddd "Ive still yet to play in a playoff game. For me, Im a point now where its about winning," he said. "And obviously, playing with two big guys down the middle, playing behind them, is going to be a great opportunity for me." Sutter was the key piece of the deal for the Penguins in finding a player who could immediately step in and fill Staals role. At 23, Sutter is a 2007 first-round draft pick who has spent the past four seasons establishing himself as a capable third-line centre. Sutter had 17 goals and 15 assists in 82 games last year, with his best season coming in 2009-10, when he had 21 goals and 40 points in 72 games. As part of the deal, the Penguins also acquired defenceman Brian Dumoulin and Carolinas No. 8 pick, which they used to draft defenceman Derrick Pouliot. Staals long-term future in Pittsburgh had become uncertain after the player rejected the Penguins offer of a long-term contract extension. Staal was looking for a chance to expand his role from beyond the shadow of Crosby and Malkin, and also interested in joining his older brother, Eric Staal, in Carolina. Though they play the same role, Sutter wasnt interested in drawing comparisons between him and Staal, "Im my own player. I dont feel like Im here to replace anyone," Sutter said. "I feel like the Penguins had to make a deal. Im glad they picked me. Im going to a winning team where theres opportunity." ' ' '
