The Tahoka are mainly a group of Selkie beings. Many take wolves as their hunter form because of the strong wolf shifter bloodlines passing through the tribe.

Ranks.
  • Cheif - The chief is the highest in authority. Although he is influenced by the priestess he still gets a final descision based on his thoughts and opinion.
  • Priestess - Generally a professional Elementalist with multiple sub elements under her belt the priestess is a woman who does not marry. Her purity aside she is the witch doctor of the tribe. Not only is she intuned with the goddess and god of their religion, but she also will serve as the tribe healer. She takes on one apprentice in her lifetime and sacrifices herself to spirits when her apprentice is ready to take her spot.
  • Warrior - The guardians of the tribe, these men and/or women are tattooed by the priestess when they are initiated up in their ranks. The tattoo is a set of three claw marks over their hearts as a symbol that they would die for the tribe's safety.
  • Hunters/Huntresses - Mostly teenagers, the hunters of the tribe go out daily to bring food back. Some train in order to become a warrior while others prefer to be hunters the rest of their lives. While hunters, the men and women learn to hunt in pack-like formations therefore hunting threads will often appear.
  • Craft Workers - Even with the hunters in rank, the craft workers piece together trade goods such as weapons, woven baskets, and clothes. Each craft worker has a specific thing he or she becomes very good at. As they grow as craft workers they do not become warriors and simply spend their lives learning how to make more and more things.
  • Care takers - Care takers manage the children and animals of the tribe. Picking which you prefer to take care of you then either go to the nursery or the pasture. Either way your stuck with the job unless the priestess or chief interfere.
  • Apprentice - Apprentices are young preteens that pick which path the gods wish them to take through the priestess's help. Whether working with youngsters, crafting various trade goods, or growing to guard their tribe they make the choice and work with a mentor until they take their mentor's spot.

Superstitions.
  • Phantoms - Seen as bad omens, phantoms are the only group of people rejected from the tribe.
  • Rotten food - Any rotten meat or vegetable is considered a sign of death or bad luck.
  • Wild animals passing by - To some the paw prints of wild animals trailing about the tribe lands is a path to be followed for good fortune and luck. To others it is a sign that good things will come to those who's shifting animal matches the wondering wild beast.
  • Rain clouds passing without rain - A sign that someone is lying or deceiving you. Making you believe one thing will happen even though the opposite occurs.
  • Two doves flying through the windy sky - A trial is near but you and your close ones will work your way through it together!

Religion.

Beliefs about creation:
In the beginning, the gods came together to Zephora. The gods being Jakinja(the goddess) and Sariftoj(the god). Jakinja came riding land and sky, with the sun tied to her belt. Sariftoj rode water and animals, the moon on his crown. Both circled Zephora until they were satisfied with the land they made.

Then the two settled on the north western part of the land and gave birth to the first Selkies. Then they made the rest of the races. After the beings fell to sleep the gods took them and made them mates so they could populate the land.

Worship:
Every full moon a celebration is held to thank the gods for what they've done, what they will do, and what has happened in the past. The priestess blesses the tribe, tribe lands, and animals. A dance and feast is held. After the feast, all the men change to animal form and go for a run while the women stay behind. (Although some women do in fact join the men it is rare.)

During times of trouble these celebrations are held at half moons as well. Half moon ceremonies are more of a mourning time where each member cries and kneels before the gods in attempt to have their prayers answered. Because of the closeness of the tribe all show up to help win the gods over and get the troubled soul's prayed answered.
